Copper MSAN
Our GeoStream Access Gateway CMSAN is the only multi-service platform that has been proven in the field to deliver all the required NGN applications. This degree of success positions Fujitsu as one of the most experienced vendors in this particularly challenging aspect of NGN deployment.
With its high capacity, small footprint IP DSLAM design, Fujitsu's CMSAN provides comprehensive service delivery across prime-line POTS, Voice over IP, high speed broadband, ISDN Primary and Basic Rate, and IPTV.
Fujitsu's CMSAN comprises two principal elements - the Switch Hub Module and the LCSS Modules (line cards). The Switch Hub performs cell/packet traffic cross-connection, concentration and policing, as well as shaping to/from the xDSL line cards up to the backhaul interfaces, while the LCSS modules provide xDSL ports, ATM termination, a PPP intermediate agent and a range of traffic management features. All variants are interchangeable, and the absence of backplane connections ensures maximum flexibility and minimum speed of installation. The Switch Hub connects to the line cards via a high speed inter-module link (HS IML), using CAT5 cable at 1Gb/s.
The operational benefits of Fujitsu's leading edge design approach are extensive, incorporating:
- Hot plug-in cards, and non-service affecting common card swaps and deployment.
- Self-checking hardware that enables preventative maintenance.
- 1+1 protection for 99.999% improved service availability, with Network Interface, Processor, Switch Fabric, IML and PSU protection to provide PSTN-equivalent performance.
- Simple cabling practices, using HS-IML cards with 32 connections for every two racks.
- Intelligent space handling, with pairs of racks up to 200m apart making the best use of available space.
- A uniquely small footprint, with the TAM, test head, and DSLAM all fitting back to back in just 600mm x 600mm.
