Fujitsu Chosen to Provide Services on New PSN Connectivity Framework

Fujitsu UK & Ireland

London, April 18, 2012

Fujitsu today confirmed that it has been selected as one of 12 organisations to deliver services within the Government Procurement Service’s Public Services Network (PSN) connectivity framework. The framework is set to run for an initial twenty-four-month term and expected to deliver significant savings to government by removing duplicate network connections, simplifying procurement processes, enabling the uptake of mobile working and encouraging the use of shared services.

Under the agreement, Fujitsu will be able to deliver communications, integration, encryption and LAN services, amongst others, to central government departments, non-departmental public bodies, the NHS, local authorities and voluntary sector charities.

The company will draw on four decades’ worth of experience in delivering secure services to the public sector to produce the desired agility and efficiencies required by government organisations.

Nigel Kirby-Green, executive director, public sector at Fujitsu UK & Ireland, commented, “People might not think of Fujitsu as a major networks provider, but in fact over 8m business and residential users already access our broadband solutions.

“The PSN promises to deliver substantial savings in terms of time and money across Government, by delivering a single means of procuring new products and services. Ultimately, it will reduce the burden on the taxpayer and improve service delivery to citizens."

“We also work with a large network of smaller service providers, so we can add value to the PSN framework by enabling our partner SMEs to actively contribute services through us. This will offer Government bodies increased choice and access to innovation.”
