Fujitsu Awarded Two Lots in Scottish Procurement Framework Agreement for IT Managed Services

Fujitsu UK & Ireland

May 20, 2011

Scottish Procurement and Commercial Directorate – known as “Scottish Procurement” – has awarded Fujitsu a place on both (two) Lots for the IT Managed Services Framework Agreement. The Frameworks took effect from the beginning of April 2011.

The award means that Fujitsu will be one of a limited number of IT suppliers pre-approved to tender for IT managed services contracts across all public bodies in Scotland including, central government, local authorities, emergency services, health and education.

Lot 1 – intended for IT Managed Services (Large), where the services are considered medium to high complexity and expected to cost in excess of £1m per annum.

Lot 2 – intended for IT Managed Services (Small), where the services are considered as less complex or expected to cost less than £1m per annum.

Public sector spending on goods and services across Scotland, in areas such as health and education services, amounts to over £9 billion per year. The new Frameworks will ensure that procurement is conducted in the most efficient way, reducing complexity and cost for all government departments. The Frameworks are part of the Public Procurement Reform Programme (PPRP), which aims to drive up procurement standards ensuring value for money for the taxpayer.

Greg McDaid, account director for Northern Ireland and Scotland at Fujitsu UK and Ireland, highlights the importance of the Frameworks: “This offers Fujitsu an ideal route to market and is an opportunity for the company to further demonstrate its commitment to the Scottish public sector.

Fujitsu is at the forefront of reducing costs and delivering new and innovative IT services – such as virtual desktop infrastructure and cloud-based services – and we welcome the opportunity to implement these services more efficiently for Scottish Public Bodies.”

Fujitsu was awarded a place on the Frameworks as result of its proven ability to provide an end-to-end service combined with technical excellence and a lean and efficient approach.
