Uptime Institute (Institute) today awarded Operational Sustainability Gold Certification to Fujitsu's London North Data Center. Fujitsu's London North Data Center provides managed data center services to major corporations in Financial Services, Utilities, Service Companies, and Government. Gold Certification signifies that Fujitsu operates this facility to a world-class level.

The Institute has rated every aspect of the Fujitsu data center's operations in accordance with the Operational Sustainability Standard for facilities management. Operational Sustainability is a tool for data center owners, operators, and managers worldwide to mitigate human error—the leading cause of data center outages. “Operational Sustainability builds upon the critical foundation of Tier. Fujitsu's design and site Tier III Certifications occurred in 2007 and 2008, respectively. The Institute's Tier Classification System (I-IV) is the international standard for ensuring a data center is designed and built to supply the uptime required by the business and its customers. The Institute's Tier Certification is a globally applicable and recognizable validation of a data center's capability to perform maintenance or respond to a fault without affecting the data center's availability. It is the only valid Certification in accordance with the Tier Classification System.
