Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe (FLE) is a multidisciplinary centre which, as part of Fujitsu’s global R&D activity, conducts research in the fields of information technology and mobile communications.

Applications are invited for this full-time, permanent position in our Technical Computing Research Division. The Division’s current activities are centred on the development of efficient applications software for parallel computers (including massively parallel petascale systems such as the ‘K computer’) with particular emphasis on vertical markets such as weather/climate and engineering.

The advertised vacancy is for a suitably qualified manager who will be responsible for leading and driving forward the Division’s research and development. In order to accelerate the Division’s progress, the manager will also be expected to establish and maintain collaborations both with research institutions around the world and with Fujitsu’s own laboratories and business units.

Applicants should possess a good first degree and will ideally also have attained a relevant postgraduate qualification. Experience in a similar multi-national research environment would also be an advantage. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proven HPC technical leadership ability 
  • A good track record in strategic research planning and budgetary control 
  • Strategic and practical decision-making 
  • People management skills (with previous line management experience) 
  • Excellent project planning and management skills 
  • Strong business awareness 
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentational) 
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical negotiation skills Proven effective project management skills
