This device is the first mobile information terminal in the world with built-in electronic color paper. As well as supplying hitherto nonexistent new value to a broad range of customers (color electronic books, advertising POP, etc.), it also aims to permeate and secure electronic paper technology within society. We aimed for a design that not only rigorously considered ease of use, but also a sense of cleanliness and friendliness that accepts a broad range of needs and interests.
Examination Committee Evaluation Comments
Electronic paper is expected to be mass-produced and enter common use shortly. The mass production of energy-saving fixed displays that display much information is possible, and so we are considering products that can contribute greatly to the Earth environment of the next generation. This point has been highly regarded. Further developments are expected.
