Coop Trading is the sourcing company for Coop in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden, handling joint purchasing, quality assurance and design of private label and fruit and vegetables, as well as negotiating indirect goods and services spend, and branded goods contracts. It has strong roots in the values that characterize the owner organizations, believing that more can be accomplished collectively than individually. The company buys for more than 4,600 stores and 9 million members in the Nordic countries and its goal is to become the most efficient sourcing company for its partners.
Coop Trading deals with thousands of products, each of which has attached data, however this data existed in multiple locations and spreadsheets. When regular changes occurred, it required significant manual intervention to avoid possible human error and poor data quality.
Coop Trading described the desired enterprise architecture and worked with long term technology partner, Fujitsu, to reshape its application landscape by creating scripts and .NET applications that could extract precious data automatically from multiple existing applications and spreadsheets.
