PRIMECLUSTER is a next generation cluster solution, developed using the joint clustering expertise of Fujitsu and Fujitsu Technology Solutions. Now available worldwide, it ensures high reliability and system optimization for enterprise computing environments. PRIMECLUSTER features three main benefits in particular:

PRIMECLUSTER works intimately with PRIMEPOWER, PRIMERGY and PRIMEQUEST servers to independently monitor (using a separate processor) and immediately respond to system and component failures. PRIMECLUSTER is able to accurately and speedily detect abnormal circumstances, shifting operation at very high speed to a standby server-even when unexpected failures occur.

High availability is maintained, since service disruption and access interruption are both minimized. If a disk device storing important data fails, or some other resource malfunctions, it can be replaced without disturbing operation, using the high-availability features of PRIMECLUSTER and PRIMEPOWER/PRIMERGY/PRIMEQUEST in collaboration. System integrity is maintained as PRIMECLUSTER performs file system recovery using special high-speed recovery functions.

PRIMECLUSTER can also ensure the integrity of network connections by automatically scaling down performance or switching transmission paths in a multiplexed network. Overall, PRIMECLUSTER enhances the availability of the entire system, including disk devices, the network and servers and their application environments, to provide the highest standards in reliability.

Today’s IT business requires an environment that can flexibly adapt to fast growing databases and transaction volumes. PRIMECLUSTER provides both parallel processing and distributed processing-style cluster systems for optimum SAN (Storage Area Network) environments. It enables servers and storage to be added without disrupting ongoing operations, allowing the scale of business to expand smoothly. The data stored in the SAN environment can also be efficiently accessed from any server, providing “full data sharing” in addition to file system level sharing. This permits “true” access and sharing of data. Furthermore, simultaneous use of redundant paths in the network ensures load distribution of network traffic and improves bandwidth.

PRIMECLUSTER makes it easy to manage the whole integrated cluster environment as a single entity. All the complexity of storage, separate management of servers, configuring the cluster and monitoring the physical connections is removed. This is particularly effective in SAN environments, where many servers and storages devices may be connected together.
