HyBrick - SGML / XML Browser supporting XLink / XPointer

"HyBrick" is an advanced SGML/XML browser. "HyBrick" is based on an architecture that supports advanced linking and formatting capabilities. HyBrick includes a DSSSL renderer and XLink/XPointer engine running on top of James Clark's SP and Jade.

Please note that the support on this application is not provided.

Features

HyBrick supports:

  • Operating System requirement: Windows2000 / XP
  • Both valid and well-formed XML documents
  • XLink and XPointer (old specification; XML Linking Language (XLink) W3C Working Draft 21-February-2000). : XLink is implemented as a subset of the HyTime property set / Link traversal can use either "New" or "Replace" to display a new page
  • SGML (ISO 8879)
  • DSSSL (ISO 10179) online specification
  • Printing and print previewing based on DSSSL stylesheets

Using the Sample Files

To use the sample files provided with HyBrick:

  • Pull down the File menu
  • Select Open
  • Select Browse
  • Move to the Sample directory
  • Move to the basic, sample1, or XLink-sample sub-directory
  • Select an .xml or .sgm file, as the case may be

Since each file calls the required style sheet, it should be displayed right away.

Using the XLink / XPointer Sample Files

  • Use the "Browse" button to open the file sample\docs\readme.xml
  • Click on blue-highlighted areas with the left mouse button to see a list of locations linked to the highlighted location
  • If only one location is available, traversal to that location is immediate
  • Click on blue-highlighted areas with the right mouse button to see the location of that area expressed as an XPointer

HyBrick is not set up to work as a "helper" application, so don't try to call it from a Web browser to open SGML or XML documents. Also, HyBrick does not currently work with proxy servers.
