Fujitsu and Sumitomo Electric Establish Joint Venture in Compound Semiconductor Devices

Tokyo, December 25, 2003 – Fujitsu Limited and Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. today announced that they have reached a basic agreement to create a joint venture that will consolidate the operations of Fujitsu Quantum Devices Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujitsu that is focused on the development, manufacture and sales of compound semiconductors, with the electronic devices business of Sumitomo Electric's compound semiconductor operations. Fujitsu and Sumitomo Electric will each have an equal equity ownership in the joint venture.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers Outperforms European SME Market and Strengthens its Number 3 Position

Munich, December 22, 2003 – Fujitsu Siemens Computers provided further verification of how successful its sales and marketing strategy for the small and medium sized enterprise (SME) market has proven to be. Europe’s leading IT company outperformed the European SME market in the third quarter 2003, achieving 18 percent year-on-year growth in a market that expanded by only 3 percent, according to IDC revenue figures for sales of PCs and x86 (Intel-architecture) servers. According to the data, Fujitsu Siemens Computers holds the number 3 spot in this segment in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region with an 11 percent market share.

Fujitsu Reports FY2003 First-Half Financial Results

Tokyo, October 29, 2003 – Fujitsu Limited, a leader in customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, today reported consolidated net sales of 2,141.9 billion yen (approximately US$19.3 billion) for the first half of fiscal year 2003 (April 1 - September 30, 2003), a 0.4% decrease from the first half of fiscal 2002. Net sales in the second quarter increased 3.1%, to 1,203.1 billion yen, led by strong sales of PCs, mobile telephones, logic chips, and plasma display panels. It was the first time since the first quarter of FY2001 that Fujitsu posted year-on-year quarterly sales growth. Higher sales and lower operating expenses contributed to a rebound in second quarter operating income to 19.8 billion yen (US$179 million). For the company as a whole, however, a large operating loss in the first quarter resulted in an operating loss for the first six months of 17.9 billion yen (US$162 million), compared to an operating loss of 23.2 billion yen for the first half of FY2002.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers Announces First-Half Fiscal Year 2003 Results

Augsburg, October 29, 2003 – At its annual customer conference, Octoberfestival, Fujitsu Siemens Computers announced financial results for the first half of its 2003/2004 fiscal year. The company achieved a profit before tax (Pbt) of €11 million for the six month period from April through September 2003. This represents an increase of €32 million over the first half of the previous fiscal year. Revenue declined by nine percent to €2,232 million. The decline is attributed to the US Dollar / Euro exchange rate, which depreciated approximately 24% year-on-year, as well as to intense competitive pressure.

Fujitsu Transfers Partial Stake in Leasing Affiliate to Tokyo Leasing

Tokyo, September 26, 2003 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that it has agreed to sell 400,000 shares (representing 20% of total outstanding shares) of the 900,000 shares it owns in its leasing affiliate, Fujitsu Leasing Co., Ltd., to Tokyo Leasing Co., Ltd., and today executed a contract to sell the shares. As a result of the sale, Fujitsu Leasing's financial results will no longer be consolidated in Fujitsu Limited's financial reports, and instead will be accounted for by the equity method for affiliate earnings.

Fujitsu Reports FY2003 First Quarter Financial Results

Tokyo, July 29, 2003 – Fujitsu Limited, a leader in customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, today reported consolidated net sales of 938.7 billion yen, approximately US$7.8 billion, for the first quarter of fiscal year 2003 (April 1 - June 30, 2003), a 4.5% decrease from the first quarter of fiscal 2002. Lower sales of platforms products and other factors contributed to the overall decline in sales. While the company is reaping the benefits of lower fixed costs stemming from the restructuring initiatives implemented last year, the impact of lower sales resulted in an operating loss of 37.8 billion yen.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers Announces Final Results for Fiscal Year 2002 with a Euro 8 Million Profit

London, May 15, 2003 – Fujitsu Siemens Computers achieved a profit before tax (pbt) of €8 million for the 2002/2003 financial year running from April 2002 to March 2003, against the CeBIT forecast (March 2003) of a pbt of €4 million. Revenue was nearly flat at €5,337 million, compared to €5,434 million in the previous year. The final numbers are an update to the preliminary financial results announced at CeBIT 2003.

AMD and Fujitsu Announce New Flash Memory Company

Tokyo, April 1, 2003 – AMD (NYSE: AMD) and Fujitsu Limited (TSE: 6702, "Fujitsu") today announced they have executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a new Flash memory semiconductor company headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. A Japan headquarters will be located in Tokyo. The new company, to be called FASL LLC, will be based on the integration of AMD and Fujitsu's Flash memory businesses, including their existing joint manufacturing venture, Fujitsu AMD Semiconductor Limited.
