Fujitsu Introduces World's First 300 GB 2.5" SATA Hard Disk Drive

Tokyo, December 12, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced the development of the world's first 2.5" hard disk drive that offers storage capacity of 300 gigabytes (GB) with a Serial ATA (*1) interface. The new hard disk drive "MHX2300BT" will be available in late February 2007. Featuring the highest storage capacity in the 2.5" class, it will be available on a global basis for use primarily in multifunctional mobile PCs and digital TVs.

Fujitsu Develops New Bio-Based Polymer from Castor Oil

Tokyo, December 7, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories Limited today announced their development of a new polymer with a high bio-content that uses castor oil extracted from the seeds of the castor bean. The new bio-based polymer features superior flexibility that can withstand repeated bending. Fujitsu will consider using this new bio-based polymer for small components of notebook PCs and mobile phones, such as connector covers.

Fujitsu is Elected to Board of Directors of Trusted Computing Group (TCG)

Tokyo, December 5, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories Limited today announced that Dr. Seigo Kotani, Senior Researcher of the Secure Computing Laboratory of Fujitsu Labs, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) for a one-year term by TCG members. The board includes permanent board members AMD, HP, IBM, Infineon, Intel, Lenovo, Microsoft, and Sun. Fujitsu is the first member from Japan to be elected to the TCG board, which guides its approximately 140 members and work groups in development of industry specifications for hardware and software that protect PCs and other computing devices from attacks of critical information and transactions.

Fujitsu to Release H.264 Format Video-Processing LSI Chip Supporting High-Definition and Low Power Consumption

Tokyo, November 30, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced the development of a new large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) chip capable of real-time compression and decompression of high-definition TV-level video, in H.264 format. The new LSI chip, to be released in March 2007, is based on a H.264 processing algorithm developed by Fujitsu Laboratories Limited and integrates Fujitsu's high-performance audio and video processing technology with its 90nm process technology. This is the industry's first such chip to support H.264 High Profile, Level 4.0 standard used in next-generation DVDs. This LSI enables high-resolution recording, playback, and transmission of high-definition video on audio-visual products such as surveillance cameras, hard disk recorders, and home network equipments.

Fujitsu introduces 256Mbit Mobile FCRAMTM compliant with COSMORAM Rev.4

Tokyo, November 28, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited ("Fujitsu") today announced the availability of a new 256Mbit Mobile Fast Cycle RAM (FCRAM). The Mobile FCRAM is a pseudo static RAM (PSRAM) with an SRAM interface on Fujitsu's unique FCRAM core technology, with the advantage of high-speed operation together with low power consumption, making it especially well-suited for mobile applications such as cellular phones.

Fujitsu's PalmSecure™ Biometric Palm Vein Authentication Deployed by Hair Care Company Aderans for PC Log-in System

Tokyo, November 2, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that Aderans Co., Ltd., a major Japanese hair care company, will deploy Fujitsu's PalmSecure™ contactless biometric palm vein authentication system for the PC log-in system for computers used by staff at Aderans branches throughout Japan. This is the first implementation of palm vein-based biometric authentication to safeguard customer data by the hair care industry, which includes wigs and hair pieces, hair-volumizing products, and services for healthy hair growth. In recent years, companies and government agencies have an increased awareness of the importance of protecting personal data. At Aderans, due to the fact that the company's internal information system handles sensitive customer data, the company sought advanced high-level security measures for system log-in, beyond merely employee IDs and passwords.

Fujitsu and Advantest Establish Joint Venture for LSI Prototyping Services: e-Shuttle, Inc.

Tokyo, October 30, 2006 – Tokyo, October 30, 2006 - Fujitsu Limited and Advantest Corporation today announced their agreement to establish on November 1 a new joint venture, e-Shuttle, Inc., to provide prototyping services for leading-edge large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) semiconductors. e-Shuttle will use electron beam direct lithography technology that combines advanced semiconductor process technologies with electron beam exposure systems, to provide new LSI prototyping services for 65nm process technology. The services are scheduled to start in the first half of fiscal 2007 (April - September).

Fujitsu Reports Fiscal 2006 First-Half Financial Results

Tokyo, October 26, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited, a leader in customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, today reported consolidated net sales of 2,362.3 billion yen (approximately US$20,020 million*) for the first half of fiscal 2006 (April 1, 2006 - September 30, 2006), an increase of 7.8% over the first half of fiscal 2005. The solid sales results were driven by double-digit year-on-year overseas sales growth in each of the company’s three major business segments, with modest growth in Japan. Overseas sales of IT services were exceptionally strong, rising 25.8% over the first half of fiscal 2005 on continued growth in outsourcing services in the UK and the impact of acquisitions in North America.

Fujitsu and Cisco Systems Introduce New IP/MPLS Core Router for IP Next-Generation Networks in Japan

Tokyo, October 5, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited and Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced that they have launched sales in Japan of a four-slot model of the co-branded "Fujitsu and Cisco CRS-1" Carrier Routing System. The latest product in the Fujitsu and Cisco CRS-1 series resulting from the strategic alliance announced on December 6, 2004, the new router model delivers the same 40 gigabits-per-second (Gbps) of switching capacity per slot as other models in the series, providing a total switching capacity of 320 Gbps in the world's most compact 40 Gbps-per-slot chassis.

Fujitsu to Purchase Semiconductor Fabs in Japan from Spansion

Tokyo, September 28, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that it has signed an agreement today with Spansion Japan Limited to purchase Spansion Japan's semiconductor fabs in Japan known as JV1 and JV2, located in the city of Aizu-Wakamatsu in Fukushima prefecture of northeastern Japan. As an extension of Fujitsu's ongoing business strategy of focusing on logic large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) devices, in addition to production of advanced logic LSI devices at its 300mm fab in Mie, Japan, as part of its strategy to reinforce its standard logic LSI device business Fujitsu will increase production at JV1 and JV2 with a focus on production of flash memory-embedded microcontrollers that anticipated to see market growth. For the immediate future, Fujitsu will continue to manufacture certain flash memory products for Spansion that are currently manufactured at fabs JV1 and JV2 under their foundry arrangement.

Fujitsu Develops SmartCODEC™ Streamlined Image Compression Technology for Automotive Applications

Kawasaki, September 21, 2006 – Fujitsu Laboratories Limited today announced that it has developed image compression technology for automotive use that complies with the IDB-1394 (ITS Data Bus-1394) standard for in-vehicle digital imaging transmission system networks. The new technology, SmartCODEC, features a compression rate of one-third (1/3), and a fast compression-decompression time of just 2 to 3 milliseconds that enables compression and multiplex transmission of images to inside the vehicle, such as images from multiple automotive cameras located externally on the vehicle. In addition to assisting facilitation of safer driving through these functions, Fujitsus'new technology also makes it possible to reduce the amount of cable required within the vehicle to achieve fast and high-quality image transmission of multiple images.

Fujitsu and Advantest to Establish Joint Venture to Create Semiconductor Prototypes Using Electron Beam Direct Lithography

Tokyo, September 15, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited and Advantest Corporation today announced plans to establish a joint venture to create prototype semiconductors by using electron beam direct lithography, a technology that combines 65 nanometer (nm) and 45 nm semiconductor process technologies with electron beam exposure devices. The companies are currently discussing the terms of a formal contract, targeting November for this year for establishment of the joint venture.

Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST Mission-Critical IA Server Powers Information Analysis System Enhancement for Circle K Sunkus

Tokyo, September 11, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that Circle K Sunkus Co., Ltd., the major Japanese convenience store retailer, has utilized the Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST mission-critical IA server in the reconstruction of its information analysis system. The enhanced new system, which will become fully operational at the end of this month, is a data warehouse system that enables the search and analysis of sales data to support product planning and store management. Powered by a PRIMEQUEST server equipped with a 64-bit processor and running the Oh-Pa 1/3 on-memory database from Fujitsu Broad Solution and Consulting Inc. Fujitsu Remains at the Top in Japanese IT Outsourcing Revenue Ranking for Two Consecutive Years

Tokyo, September 4, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that according to the press release issued on September 4 by IDC Japan, the company was number one in revenues in the Japanese IT outsourcing market for fiscal 2005 (the year ending March 31, 2006). According to IDC Japan's newly released document, "Japan IT Outsourcing Leading Vendor Profile 2006" (J6100104), this marks the second successive year in which Fujitsu has ranked first in revenues in the Japanese IT outsourcing market.

Fujitsu Introduces its First 2.5" Hard Disk Drives Featuring Perpendicular Magnetic Recording

Tokyo, August 30, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced the new MHW2 BH series of hard disk drives (HDDs) for mobile PCs, its first 2.5" HDD offerings to incorporate advanced perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR)(*1) technology for enhanced storage capacity. Two new models, the 160GB MHW2160BH (which boasts the industry's highest storage capacity for a 5,400 rpm HDD), and the 80GB MHW2080BH, will go on sale worldwide from October 2006.

Fujitsu Strengthens Global Sales Support for Optical Components Products

Tokyo, August 1, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that it will open a European business support center for its optical components products based in Amsterdam, Netherlands in addition to an existing facility located in Sunnyvale, California in the US. The company is also creating a new sales support organization in Singapore to handle the Asian market. The two new sales support sites will begin operations on August 1. Fujitsu Reports Fiscal 2006 First-Quarter Financial Results

Tokyo, July 27, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited, a leader in customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, today reported consolidated net sales of 1,102.8 billion yen (approximately US$9,674 million*) for the first quarter of fiscal 2006 (April 1, 2006 - June 30, 2006), a 7.5% increase over the same period in the previous fiscal year. A more than 20% year-on-year increase in first-quarter overseas sales offset flat sales in Japan. Strong performers in overseas markets, where all three of the company’s business segments recorded revenue gains, ranged from optical transmission systems and outsourcing services to logic LSI devices, hard disk drives and personal computers.

Fujitsu and Cisco Introduce New High-Performance Routers for IP Next-Generation Networks

Tokyo and San Jose, CA, May 25, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited and Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced the release of the co-branded "Fujitsu and Cisco XR12400" series (four models) of high-performance routers specifically designed for the needs of the Japanese market. Fujitsu Develops Bio-based Polymer with Superior Impact Resistance - Ideal for Use in Mobile Phones

Tokyo, May 16, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories, Ltd. today announced the development of a new bio-based polymer that retains the heat resistance and moldability of their previously developed bio-based polymer, while improving impact resistance by 50%. Fujitsu has succeeded in developing a prototype mobile phone chassis using the new bio-based polymer, which will be exhibited at Fujitsu Forum 2006 to be held from May 18 to 19 at the Tokyo International Forum.

Fujitsu's Grid Computing System for Telecom Carriers Passes Test

Tokyo, April 12, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories, Ltd. today announced that, in collaboration with France Telecom, they have developed a system based on grid computing that enables telecommunications carriers to optimize use of their IT resources, and have successfully completed testing of the system. In these tests, service loads were automatically allocated among servers located in Paris, Tokyo, and Kawasaki, enabling the overall system to handle loads that would have been beyond the capacity of conventional systems.

Toshiba, NEC Electronics and Fujitsu Announce Agreement on "COSMORAM Rev. 4" Common Pseudo SRAM Specifications for Mobile Devices

Tokyo, February 15, 2006 – Toshiba Corporation, NEC Electronics Corporation, and Fujitsu Limited today announced that they have reached an agreement on standard interface specifications known as COSMORAM (COmmon Specifications for MObile RAM) Rev. 4, for Pseudo Static Random Access Memory (PSRAM) for use in mobile devices. Based on these specifications, each of the three companies will independently begin production and sales of PSRAM devices, with products scheduled to be available from each company from March 2007.

NTT DoCoMo, Renesas, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi Electric and Sharp to Jointly Develop Platform for W-CDMA Handsets

Tokyo, February 13, 2006 – NTT DoCoMo, Inc., Renesas Technology Corp., Fujitsu Limited, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Sharp Corporation today announced that they will jointly develop a comprehensive mobile phone platform combining a single-chip LSI for dual mode handsets supporting HSDPA/W-CDMA and GSM/GPRS/EDGE, and core software such as operating systems. The new mobile phone platform will help accelerate the global adoption of W-CDMA services including FOMA™, and lower the costs of these handsets. The companies expect to have the platform developed around Q2/FY2007 (July-September).

Fujitsu Records Valuation Loss on Investment and Revises Fiscal 2005 Full-Year Unconsolidated Financial Results Forecast

Tokyo, January 31, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that, with respect to its unconsolidated financial results, it has recorded a valuation loss on investment in its U.S.-based affiliated company, Spansion Inc. (hereafter, “Spansion”), resulting from its initial public offering on the NASDAQ stock market last December. Along with this, as described below, Fujitsu has revised its unconsolidated earnings forecast for the full-year fiscal period ending March 2006, which it had previously announced on October 27, 2005. Fujitsu's full-year consolidated earnings forecast remains unchanged.

Fujitsu Reports FY 2005 Third-Quarter Financial Results

Tokyo, January 31, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited, a leader in customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, today reported consolidated net sales of 1,121.4 billion yen (approximately US$9,504 million*) for the third quarter of fiscal 2005 (October 1, 2005 – December 31, 2005), an increase of 7.5% over the third quarter of fiscal 2004. Excluding the impact of changes in accounting policies and restructuring, sales increased by 7%. Growth was led by sharply higher overseas sales of outsourcing services, UNIX servers, PCs, optical transmission systems, hard disk drives (HDDs), and LSI devices, while higher sales of network products in Japan helped to offset sales declines in servers and other system products.

Fujitsu to Release World's First XFP-type 10 Gbps DWDM Optical Transceiver

Tokyo, January 18, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories Limited today announced the joint development of the world's first commercial 10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable (XFP)-type optical transceiver for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). The transceiver will make it possible to develop and manufacture smaller, less expensive, high-speed DWDM optical transmission equipment. The transceiver will be available March 31, 2006.

Fujitsu To Expand its Hard Disk Drive Business

Tokyo, January 13, 2006 – Fujitsu Limited today announced strategic measures to expand its hard disk drive (HDD) business. Fujitsu will be expanding its line of 2.5-inch models and also entering the 1.8-inch small form factor HDD market. Fujitsu to Construct New Fab for Logic Chips Employing 65nm Process Technology and 300mm Wafers
