Fujitsu Wins Extended Global Services Contract With Hydro
- Fujitsu to manage and modernize all IT infrastructure for Hydro's Brazilian operations, and provide a dedicated Managed Security Operation Center
- Extended contract with Fujitsu for global IT infrastructure and 24/7 security services provides Hydro with a standardized, global IT platform to ensure consistency and availability
- Multi-million Euro global outsourcing contract extended to 2022
A Fujitsu customer since 2010, Hydro has entrusted Fujitsu with providing global IT infrastructure services
in 40 countries, as well as taking care of cyber security through 24/7 global Security Incident Response service and secure user authentication solutions
. Since the start of the project, Fujitsu has worked together with Hydro to harmonize its entire IT landscape, consolidating services all over the world, with the addition of managed infrastructure services for Hydro’s extensive operations in Brazil now completing the global picture. The newly-agreed contract extension underlines the strong partnership between both companies and demonstrates Fujitsu’s ability to deliver seamless and unified services across the globe to Hydro.
Jo De Vliegher, CIO at Hydro, comments: “We have a very clear digital strategy built on four pillars: efficiency, cyber security, innovation and change management. The decision to extend our IT outsourcing contract with Fujitsu for another five years underlines our appreciation of the transformative support that we have received since we started our collaboration in 2010. Knowing that our IT infrastructure is in the hands of experts gives us the confidence to increasingly rely on technology as we continue to globalize our business. By working with Fujitsu as our prime IT partner, we have been able to benefit from economies of scale and synergies. Awarding the outsourcing contract for our Brazilian operations to Fujitsu completes the circle and it means that we are already enjoying the benefits of a fully connected and standardized infrastructure on a truly global basis.”
The modernization of its technology infrastructure is one of the cornerstones of Hydro’s ambitious growth program. By further streamlining Hydro’s technology landscape, the integration of the company’s operations in Brazil will deliver significant annual cost savings of up to 20 percent and provide new system flexibility. Fujitsu will help Hydro move from dedicated environments to a shared, pay-as-you-use model for cloud services, a strategy that is anticipated to provide maximum system scalability and cost efficiency to Hydro.
Duncan Tait, Corporate Executive Officer, SEVP and Head of Americas and EMEIA at Fujitsu, adds: “Since we started working together, Hydro and Fujitsu have been able to streamline business technology operations, leaving Hydro to focus on growing its core business, while Fujitsu ensures that IT systems are performing at optimum levels. Our co-creation approach to achieve new levels of IT flexibility and agility is clearly paying off. We are delighted that Hydro has placed further trust in Fujitsu to also manage the integration of its IT operations in Brazil – and to confirm its intention to work together with Fujitsu for the next five years.”
The contract extension covers the migration of Hydro’s Brazilian infrastructure to Fujitsu server, storage and networking equipment and services, including the implementation of PalmSecure
, Fujitsu’s biometric authentication technology, and a dedicated Managed Security Operation Center. As part of the extended agreement, Fujitsu will also continue to be responsible for global, integrated service delivery that covers both on-site and remote services. In addition, this will cover system development, server hosting and administration, PC, LAN, storage systems, 24/7 multilingual service desks and application hosting.
