Fujitsu Virtualized CU/DU

Fujitsu Virtualized Central Unit (CU) and Distributed Unit (DU) will reduce CO2 emission of total system to be 1/2 of today’s amount by FY2025 through cooperation with advanced RIC/SMO. This solution incorporates innovative technologies such as High Performance/High Capacity, Flexible dynamic resource allocation according to the number of cells, vRAN Auto scale by resource control per cell and Automatic cell re-design. It will enable our society to become more sustainable, focusing on our technology to reduce environmental load.

RIC/SMO

Fujitsu offers an extensive portfolio of software products and solutions aligning with Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) including Non-RT RIC defined in O-RAN to enable AI/ML data driven autonomous 5G networking. The Fujitsu RIC/SMO solutions adopt a cloud native, microservices based architecture, and supports O-RAN based RAN slicing and RIC functionalities based on Virtuora SO (data and network management) and Virtuora AX (data analysis).

Open RAN integration

Recent real-world deployments of Open RAN technology have proven ability to seamlessly connect Radio Units (RU) and CUs / DUs from different vendors. To streamline the integration process, Fujitsu has established the Mobile Integration and Testing Center (MITC) at Fujitsu Network Communications in the United States. MITC is a multi-vender verification lab created to efficiently validate the interoperability of equipment from different vendors not only during the initial deployment but throughout the entire lifecycle of the solution.

Radio Unit

Fujitsu continues its long history of innovation to once again reduce RU power consumption even further. We will show how this is accomplished using High Gain Antenna Technology and a High-Efficiency PA with DPD and working with RIC/SMO to achieve 0 bit 0 Watt standby power consumption. We are also working to reduce the environmental impact of our products throughout life cycles. Fujitsu also develops mmWave device technologies to enhance the capacity of 5G network. Fujitsu’s in-house RFIC delivers high-capacity RU by applying the multi-beam multiplexing technology with low power consumption and making the RUs smaller in size.

Optical Transport

Fujitsu will showcase multiple innovative transport solutions to address the challenges of today’s difficult deployment requirements. Solutions include compact, passive solutions using smart, self-tunable optics with zero touch provisioning to address power and space challenges while enabling remote OAM. We will also feature solutions xWave 400G optics with passive filters offering 8:1 fiber reduction. Furthermore, Fujitsu is developing compact, power-saving optical communication packages that integrate digital coherent optical communications LSIs and COSA (Coherent Optical Sub Assembly) based on silicon photonics technology. These will contribute to high-speed, large-capacity communications and low-power optical networks, where power consumption is a growing concern. In addition, with an eye towards 6G, new architecture will be introduced for applying ultra-high-speed, compact, and low-cost photonics-electronics convergence devices on mobile communication products, as well as a wide range of other ICT products.

6G vision whitepaper

This whitepaper presents Fujitsu’s 2030 Vision in terms of network technologies and its elemental technologies. The more digital technologies are adopted by industry and society, the clearer the future shape of society becomes. To realize our richness society requires network revolution which includes both software and hardware. Fujitsu continues to contribute to the development of future society by delivering the cutting-edge network technologies worldwide.
