Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS NU200 Rewrites Entry-Level Storage Rules

Munich, March 07, 2024

The new Fujitsu storage platform ETERNUS NU200 redefines the upper entry-level data storage with a new unified platform and includes enterprise-class features as standard.

The new ETERNUS NU200 is a super-fast single, flexible architecture that provides small- and mid-size businesses with a simplified, sustainable, and cost-effective approach for widespread storage requirements. To further profit from the advantages of the flexible architecture, the new storage platform can leverage additional benefits of our consumption-based business model uSCALE, which offers flexible, pay-as-you-grow options, aligning costs with actual usage, underlining Fujitsu’s commitment to delivering flexible and sustainable solutions.

With an entirely re-engineered storage engine, the ETERNUS NU200 removes long-standing barriers that have prevented entry-level customers from accessing the benefits of enterprise-class storage. All categories of data — blocks, files, objects, and containers — are protected by the flash-based system.

This bold new approach also reduces data center clutter – a bewildering array of single-purpose systems for high-performance block storage, scalable NAS/Object file storage, data protection and archiving. It also allows for hybrid storage for virtual environments, and cloud-native storage. Fujitsu’s unified approach consolidates all storage needs by simplifying management and lowering costs, once data is stored intelligently for use wherever it is most effective based on available space, proximity to related data, frequency access, and associated storage costs. This significantly improves environmental footprint and sustainability, extending the lifespan of existing hardware and reducing e-waste and the carbon footprint associated with frequent system overhauls.

One additional notable feature of the ETERNUS NU200 is that it is designed to operate at higher capacities per drive. Customers are often discouraged to exceed 50% of the capacity of each drive purchased, as it impacts system or volume performance. By contrast, the ETERNUS NU200’s efficient approach utilizes almost all drive capacity without compromising performance.
