Fujitsu’s John Chowdhury to Examine Internet of Things’ Impact on Energy Resiliency and the Role of the Future Grid

Fujitsu Network Communications’ Utility Practice Director Will Speak at Energy Thought Summit 2015

Fujitsu Network Communications Inc.

Richardson, TX, March 18, 2015

Fujitsu Network Communications Inc.’s Utility Practice Director John Chowdhury will participate on the panel "Smart Energy & IoT Networks," at Energy Thought Summit 2015 (ETS15). The Summit takes place March 24 – 26, 2015 at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin, Texas; Chowdhury’s panel discussion occurs on March 26 at 2:00PM CDT.

Utility companies are looking to leverage the Internet of Things (IoT) to help better serve their business and residential customers. The IoT’s greater connectivity and information sharing capabilities will enable a more dynamic and responsive energy service. For many utilities, the first step in that direction is the implementation of smart meters, but that is only the beginning. More IoT-enabled grid sensing and control devices will be continually added to the network, ushering in a new era of grid intelligence.

“The Internet of Things will fundamentally change the electric grid and how we architect and manage our utilities’ communications networks,” Chowdhury said. “An IoT-enabled communications infrastructure requires technology that not only enables high-speed transport, but also maintains security and reliability. It is critical that utilities plan correctly for their IoT deployment and ongoing network support if they are to fully reap the benefits. Discussing with attendees how they can prepare for and leverage the IoT is going to be very exciting.”

Chowdhury brings to ETS15 decades of experience working with North American and South American energy companies as they seek to modernize the electric grid. He helps these organizations meet new demands for scalability, reliability, security and standards compliance. Over the years, he’s drawn on his deep experience to provide utilities guidance in the areas of Smart Grid/AMI/distribution automation, business case development, customer relationship management and billing and telecommunications/wireless networks.
