MasterCorp Rolls Out Fujitsu PalmSecure Technology for Housekeeping Authentication and Management at Timeshare Resorts Across the U.S.

Integration of Award-Winning Biometric Palm Vein Technology into Time and Attendance System Enhances Identity Management and Security for Resort Housekeeping Employees across the United States

Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc., a leading provider of IT-based business solutions, including advanced technology products, biometric security, and digital media solutions, today announced that MasterCorp, the leading provider of resort housekeeping services in the vacation ownership industry, is deploying the Fujitsu PalmSecure™ palm vein authentication solution. The PalmSecure technology will replace MasterCorp’s existing, internally-developed, fingerprint-based biometric time and attendance system and provide a more reliable, hygienic and secure authentication solution that is easier to use and maintain.

MasterCorp provides more than 1 million housekeeping services annually to timeshare resorts in the U.S., delivering a cost-effective professional service for resort operators. As part of its commitment to provide secure staffing, MasterCorp manages housekeepers with an accurate identity management and authentication system.

“Early on, we recognized the inherent benefits of biometric authentication and led the timeshare industry in rolling out optical fingerprint scanners for time and attendance management,” said Jonathan Loveday, CIO at MasterCorp. “Our goal is to continuously improve on this process using the latest technology available. We explored several options and found that the Fujitsu PalmSecure solution, with its contactless technology that leaves no biometric trace behind and virtually no enrollment failure, could offer us the level of functionality, usability and security we require for all our properties. We are excited about the PalmSecure solution and the initial testing revealed greater speed, accuracy and ease of maintenance.”

MasterCorp will deploy the PalmSecure palm vein authentication technology at several timeshare resorts across the U.S. All housekeepers hired by the company will be registered to use the PalmSecure solution to clock in and clock out of work. The use of palm vein biometric scanning for daily staff clock-in/clock-out procedures has many advantages. For example, a simple palm vein scan rapidly identifies the employee, marking not only the exact time of the scan to ensure the accuracy of work hours, but also authenticating the employee as someone who should have access to the property, which enhances overall safety for resort guests. In addition, because the system provides paperless time and attendance management without the need for any oversight, housekeeping managers and dispatchers are freed up to focus on the guest experience instead of administrative tasks.

The Fujitsu PalmSecure sensor uses a near-infrared light to capture a user’s palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against the palm vein patterns of pre-registered users. Unlike other readers, a PalmSecure device does not come into contact with the skin, making it extremely hygienic, non-intrusive and unrestricted by external factors such skin abrasions, conditions or chemical damages.

“The advanced PalmSecure biometric already has delivered proven successes for organizations in industries including healthcare, banking, IT and education,” said Vic Herring, vice president of sales and marketing, Fujitsu Frontech North America. “MasterCorp’s adoption of the PalmSecure solution gives us a substantial presence in the hospitality industry. By offering a high level of accuracy, easy integration into existing systems and security that is virtually impossible to forge at a price point that reduces overall operating costs, we are confident that biometric palm vein scanning is the future of hotel and resort authentication and identity management.”
