Fujitsu Expands Healthcare Portfolio to Provide End-to-End Solutions

New Offerings Such as IT Infrastructure Services Help Healthcare Facilities Improve Service, Cut Costs

Fujitsu Canada, Inc.

Atlanta, GA, March 01, 2010

Fujitsu today announced it has expanded its North American healthcare portfolio to deliver end-to-end technology solutions, introducing new IT infrastructure services that join Fujitsu "lean" healthcare consulting services, patient registration kiosks, customer feedback systems, telecom management services and award-winning LifeBook® notebooks and tablet PCs. Based on the popularity of Fujitsu healthcare solutions, the company has averaged double-digit growth in tablet PC sales over the last three years.

News Highlights

  • New Fujitsu datacenter options for healthcare organizations include cloud computing, managed data center services and hosted offshore solutions based on award-winning Fujitsu PRIMERGY® servers, and ETERNUS® storage and virtualization systems.
  • Fujitsu is expanding its lean healthcare consulting services beyond Canada to the U.S. market. Based on 15 years of global successes with lean manufacturing methodologies, lean analytical techniques can spot bottlenecks in how healthcare facilities are organized and managed. For example, Fujitsu Lean Solutions consultants helped Quebec’s Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Trois-Rivières (CSSSTR) reorganize its emergency room processes. After only four months, benefits included reducing average patient bed stays from 17.4 hours to only 4.2 hours and cutting average ambulatory patient wait times from 4.9 hours to only 2.7 hours.
  • Fujitsu is introducing the Fujitsu Med-Serv™ 50 patient registration kiosk, an open hardware platform that lets the healthcare industry’s innovative ISVs provide new applications to ease and speed up the process for patient check-in. In addition, other applications for easily filling out satisfaction surveys, paying outstanding balances or co-pay fees can be supported. In order to eliminate fraud, another optional feature, the Fujitsu PalmSecure™ palm vein biometric reader, can be deployed to authenticate the user.
  • Fujitsu is introducing the Healthcare Customer Feedback Management Solution, designed to help hospitals improve customer service by responding to patient issues faster and more effectively. Built on the Oracle CRM Application Suite, the Fujitsu Healthcare Customer Feedback Management Solution delivers a streamlined and auditable feedback management process; the ability to track, analyze, and report on opportunities for improvement; and rapid implementation options with low, total cost of ownership.
  • Fujitsu is partnering with Cerylion to offer Fujitsu Telecom Expense Management (TEM) 2.0, services that are designed to positively impact cash flow and reduce voice, data, and wireless network infrastructure expenses by 10-20 percent within the current fiscal year. Cerylion's CommADVISOR software platform is a SaaS-based, ERP-class solution that integrates easily with existing accounts payable and general ledger systems. Fujitsu TEM 2.0 services provide immediate visibility, control and optimization of all network financial transactions, persistently lowering current costs and future enterprise network expense.
  • See Fujitsu healthcare solutions in action at the HIMSS10 conference in Atlanta, March 1-4, at the Georgia World Congress Center, booth 5232. The newest Fujitsu LifeBook notebooks and tablet PCs will be shown, including the LifeBook T900 multi-touch convertible tablet PC that features an unmatched 13.3-inch mercury-free widescreen display.
