Fujitsu Releases Compact USB Multimedia Keyboard

FKB8811 Series Keybaord

Sunnyvale, CA, August 20, 2001 — Fujitsu Takamisawa America, Inc. (FTA) today released a USB Windows95® multimedia keyboard targeted to OEMs, VARs and dealers for desktop PCs, workstations and terminals.

With dimensions of 382mm wide x 188mm deep, the 115-key FKB8811 series is 30% percent smaller than the company’s full-size 104-key Windows95 keyboard. Despite the compact footprint, the keyboard incorporates 14 multimedia buttons, including three that are user-configurable. A mouse may also be connected to a hub port on the back of the keyboard.

Using the multimedia keys, users can control various functions on a CD or media player, access the World Wide Web, retrieve email, and change screen modes. A supplied software driver enables a configurable “On Screen Display᾿ function that shows current settings. The Windows 95 hot keys also function with Windows 98®, Windows2000® and WindowsNT 4.0®, when proper drivers are installed.

The FKB8811 features silent membrane keyswitches, a full-travel 3.8mm keystroke, 50gram operating force, and 20gram soft tactile snap feedback. It has a service life of over 10 million operations and a one-year warranty.

The keyboard is available in seven different language versions with laser engraved keycaps. It is also available with a PS/2 interface

Available immediately, the FKB8811 series is priced from $16.00 to $22.25 each (depending on interface) in ten-piece quantities.
