Proven Operating Environment for OpenStack Configuration

December 22, 2022

FUJITSU Storage ETERNUS AF/ETERNUS DX supports OpenStack, an open source software for cloud computing. OpenStack is a cloud operating platform that controls large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources in the datacenter environment, through a combination of hypervisors.

  • Fujitsu provides cloud offerings based on open standards to ensure interoperability and accelerate construction of cloud environments
  • Cloud enablement ensures users can scale server and storage resources when needed based on business demand. Administrators can also control and manage resources more efficiently, while reducing management workload
  • ETERNUS OpenStack Volume Driver has been developed for ETERNUS AF/ETERNUS DX systems, enabling users to manage storage resources via the following OpenStack services;
    • OpenStack Block Storage (Cinder) - Provides a centrally managed service for the provision of storage resources
    • OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon) - Web based user interface for OpenStack services

Fujitsu's experience in supporting open source technology is reflected in our commitment to use OpenStack to deliver effective cloud solutions.

Extreme Networks for OpenStack

Extreme Networks introduced the Extreme VCS fabric plugin(ML2 plugin) in GitHub that interfaces with OpenStack's Networking to manage Extreme Networks' physical switches, including the ExtremeSwitching VDX series. VCS plugin enhances the attributes of Extreme VCS fabric technology by coupling its benefits, with the ease of provisioning provided by OpenStack.
