Latest Fujitsu uSCALE Offerings Deliver As-a-Service Upsides for VMware and SUSE

Munich, October 17, 2023

Fujitsu today announces the latest expansion of its uSCALE consumption-based offerings to embrace two crucial technologies for digital transformation. Fujitsu’s uSCALE for Hybrid Cloud with VMware and uSCALE for Containers with SUSE are as-a-service offerings with an overarching infrastructure consisting of hardware, software, and services to enable rapid, low-risk deployment and agile scalability.

The two offerings open up access to an extraordinary level of value. Fujitsu calculates a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) that is approximately 25% lower for Fujitsu uSCALE for Hybrid Cloud with VMware than traditional approaches involving payment at the time of purchase, even based on utilization rates as high as 80%. Customers also benefit from the convenience of on-premises cloud-like consumption, delivering a seamless and familiar experience, while benefiting from the advantages of cloud services.

Fujitsu’s new offerings address growing demand from data center operators for highly scalable monthly subscription-based pricing plans1. As-a-service offerings reduce costs, improve resource utilization and respond quickly to changing business needs. Customers pay only for resources used rather than investing in infrastructure upfront. This approach fits perfectly organizations that would like to benefit from “cloud-like” benefits — those who have identified the wish to migrate workloads to the cloud, who have created cloud native applications that they wish to harmonize with existing applications or that may wish to repatriate certain workload from public clouds to on-prem private cloud. Leveraging these programs with consumption-based services also enables service providers to offer customers more flexible, scalable, and cost-effective solutions.

Fujitsu uSCALE for Hybrid Cloud with VMware combines IT infrastructures and VMware Cloud software, enabling businesses to allocate resources efficiently and optimize spending. This new Fujitsu service delivers a versatile preinstalled Fujitsu-managed environment where businesses are billed based on their usage of the VMware portfolio of solutions, eliminating the requirement for buffer investment.

Fujitsu uSCALE for Containers with SUSE offers Rancher Prime2 for Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers. This brings cloud-like agility to on-premises data centers, combining the benefits of a consumption-based as-a-service model with the governance and control associated with the private cloud. Buffer capacity is provisioned ahead of demand and without charge unless the service is utilized. By aligning charges with the use of the compute infrastructure, businesses can plan with confidence. Capacity upgrades are added when needed and without complexity, ensuring on-demand access to deal with additional workloads.

Fujitsu emphasizes that, even with pre-packaged offerings, a consultative focus is central to the development with customers of individual solutions based on specific challenges. Solutions can also involve other Fujitsu uSCALE portfolio components, including uSCALE for SAP,uSCALE for Virtualization,uSCALE for Compute,uSCALE for Data Management.
