Fujitsu today announces its re-selection by Hydro, one of the world’s leading integrated aluminium companies, to develop and deliver a next-generation ICT landscape of outsourced infrastructure systems and services. This will enable Hydro to continuously improve its business performance while at the same time maintaining its reputation for industry-leading innovation and sustainability.

As part of the agreement, which extends the original contract that was signed in 2010, Fujitsu will provide end-to-end ICT services both on-site and remotely across all Hydro’s business areas, covering server hosting and administration, PC, LAN, storage systems, 24/7 multilingual service desks, application hosting and collaboration systems. Hydro’s main objectives are: to increase quality and flexibility of ICT infrastructure services by utilizing standardized Fujitsu solutions, to continuously improve ICT infrastructure services and to proactively develop new ICT services.

With activities in more than 50 countries on all continents, the Norway-headquartered Hydro is a global aluminium company with production, sales and trading activities throughout the value chain1, from bauxite, alumina and energy generation, to the production of primary aluminium and rolled products, as well as recycling.

Hydro has chosen to partner with Fujitsu, because it shares Fujitsu’s view that the future of the workplace is about providing a seamless, reliable, productive user experience with ease-of-use, flexibility and built-in choice, regardless of the user’s devices or location, as outlined in the Fujitsu Technology and Service Vision. Fujitsu offers global customers such as Hydro a mixed delivery model providing the optimal combination of on-site and state-of-the-art Global Delivery Centers to address customers’ specific needs from a single supplier, but without restricting future choices due to supplier lock in.

To help Hydro achieve its ambitious goals, Fujitsu is providing long-term, end-to-end service desk and workplace services. The solution for Hydro combines local delivery and Global Delivery Centers including a multilingual Service Desk based in Lodz, Poland, Remote Infrastructure Management in Delhi, India, as well as Data Center Services and Service Delivery Management from Helsinki, Finland.
