Encryption Technology - Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem

Abstract

The Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) and Telecommunications Advancement Organization of Japan (TAO) called for the submission of cryptographic techniques for constructing electronic government in Japan. IPA and TAO have organized the CRYPTREC Evaluation Committee consisting of experts in cryptology to evaluate the submitted cryptographic techniques.

Fujitsu Limited has joined and made contributions to the SECG(Standards for Efficient Cryptography Group) consortium, which aims at establishing standards for Elliptic Curve Cryptography. Fujitsu Limited, together with Certicom Corp. in Canada, submitted (in Japanese) the cryptographic techniques specified by SECG to CRYPTREC in 2000, and this year these techniques, listed below, have been selected in the "e-Government Recommended Ciphers List".

  • Digital Signature Scheme:ECDSA(Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm)
  • Key Exchange Scheme:ECDH(Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman Scheme)

The details and specifications of these techniques are available at the SECG(https://www.secg.org/) web page.

The application documents to CRYPTREC will be sent at your request. Please contact us.
