Fujitsu success story

Mini Woolies: Supporting young disabled people

Location: Australia

Fujitsu has joined forces with Woolworths to launch the transformative "Mini Woolies" program, designed to provide meaningful learning experiences for students with intellectual or sensory disabilities, including autism. These in-school Mini Woolworths stores replicate a real supermarket environment, allowing students to develop vital life skills in a supportive setting.

  • Why it matters

By mimicking a typical Woolworths, Mini Woolies enables students to engage in real work and shopping activities. Using fully operational registers provided by Fujitsu, students practice scanning items, enhancing their customer service, communication, money-handling, and organizational skills. This hands-on approach prepares them for life beyond the classroom.

  • Making a difference

Since its launch in 2018, Mini Woolies has expanded to over 50 locations across Australia and New Zealand, creating safe spaces for students to learn and grow. By building confidence and independence, this initiative is helping young disabled people embrace their potential and prepare for a brighter future. Through the partnership between Fujitsu and Woolworths, a positive impact is made in fostering the skills necessary for success.
