Ontenna (2019)

"Ontenna" is a user interface device developed in collaboration with people with hearing impairments to create a future in which people with hearing impairments and people without hearing impairments can enjoy together. It was launched in 2019 as the "Ontenna Event Support Service". By attaching it to your hair, earlobe, collar or cuff, you can feel the rhythm, pattern and volume of sound with your body. It converts sound from 60 to 90dB into 256 levels of vibration and light intensity and transmits the sound pattern of the sound source in real time. It was used not only for education at schools for the deaf, but also for events such as entertainment appreciation and sports watching. It was awarded a Japanese prize, the Imperial Invention Prize in 2022.
