No. 34 Relay

These are components which use electromagnets to change electrical signals into mechanical motion. Fujitsu initially used relays in its telephone switching systems, but in 1954 they were applied in the FACOM100, Japan's first practical relay-type automatic computer. Aside from computers, they are also utilized in wired transmission systems, audio-visual devices, air conditioners, and railway vehicles including shinkansen.
