  • Mainframe Computers

This was a new type of telecommunications operations processor introduced in 1990, which employed innovative architecture that not only distributed and duplexed its hardware but also its software, making continuous, non-stop operation of computer networks a reality. It was developed as a product to realize the communication processing domain of the "MISSION/DC" mainframe system concept promoted by Fujitsu. Its primary features were: (1) adoption of ultra-reliable architecture enabling non-stop, continuous operation; (2) achievement of a highly-reliable system coordinated with the M series; and (3) open connectivity to support not only Fujitsu's own FNA network architecture, but also OSI, TCP/IP, IBM's SNA, and industry standards such as those of the Japanese Bankers Association and Japan Chain Stores Association.
