GS8600

A new global server introduced in 1995, which employed the world's fastest CMOS general purpose processor and parallel processing technology. Intended to be a "core server for corporations in the age of one computer per person", the GS8000 was completely different from conventional mainframes, able to realize client/server systems for core business operations while inheriting existing assets. The GS8400 model group consisted of 8 single-cluster models which were Tightly-Coupled Multi-Processors (TCMP) sharing the main memory units, and 7 multi-cluster models whose clusters were connected in parallel. The GS8200 model group consisted of 7 single-cluster models and 3 multi-cluster models.
