An ultra large-scale computer introduced in 1970 as the successor to the FACOM230-60. It was equipped with features including (1) full backward compatibility with the systems of the previous FACOM230-60 models, (2) 6 to 7 times faster performance than the FACOM230-60, and (3) a high-reliability system constructed through adopting automatic Error Correction Codes (ECC) in its main memory unit, retry and reconfiguration functions in case of malfunction, and automatic error position search procedures using processor DIACs.
