  • Mainframe Computers

A parametron-type electronic computer completed in 1959. The first unit put into use was delivered to the Japan Electronic Industry Development Association. This model was also exported to the Manila Customs Office in the Philippines in 1963, making it the first domestic computer to be exported. A "parametron" is a logical circuit element which uses the phenomenon of parametric excitation discovered in Japan in 1954. Even though for just a short period, this technology existed nowhere else but in Japan during the years of changeover from vacuum tubes to transistors.
