Ultra-large general purpose computers introduced in 1990 which were the world's fastest. The FACOM M-1800 model group consisted of 5 models: the M-1800/85, M-1800/65, M-1800/45, M-1800/30, and M-1800/20. These models were positioned as the higher-level models of the existing FACOM M-780 model group, covering roughly 4 times the range of performance and also enabling field upgrades. Notably, they included the world's first 8CPU multi-processor in general purpose computers, and the top-level M-1800/85 possessed 3 times the performance of the M-780/40, making it the fastest in the world.
