Fujitsu Enhances Performance and Adds Innovation into Transformation Architectures

Munich, April 06, 2021

Fujitsu today introduces a new foundational building block for data-driven transformation. Enhancements to the all-new dual-socket FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY systems provide powerful compute capabilities at the heart of digitally-transformed architectures.

The new PRIMERGY M6 generation's arrival delivers a performance boost for the second of Fujitsu’s four-step Data-Driven Transformation services. These focus on enabling customers to create a data architecture. After helping customers to define an initial business transformation baseline, Fujitsu then designs and builds a customized, future-ready infrastructure – with the new generation PRIMERGY servers as a centerpiece.

The new PRIMERGY models introduce innovative new features such as the newly-available Enterprise and Datacenter SSD Form Factor (EDSFF) and provide double the input/output (I/O) performance. These enhancements underline how PRIMERGY M6 generation servers create a flexible, dynamic platform for a software-defined, hyper-converged, container-based or hybrid architecture. Furthermore, they provide customers with the assurance that their infrastructure can scale to meet as-yet-unplanned future needs.

The PRIMERGY M6 generation servers are powered by the 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors and feature Intel Optane persistent memory 200 series. These upgrades extend performance capabilities across existing, widely adopted workloads.

PRIMERGY M6 generation servers are available in three form factors. The standard RX (rack) models are for data center virtualization, collaboration, traditional workloads and in-memory databases. The performance-oriented GX models are designed for data science, deep learning, data analytics, virtual desktop infrastructure and graphics-intensive workloads, accommodating eight NVIDIA GPUs. The CX models are high-density multi-node systems for HPC, designed for workloads such as powering financial trading desks and web services.

Pricing and availability

PRIMERGY RX2540 M6 and PRIMERGY RX2530 M6 server are available to order starting from May, PRIMERGY GX2570 M6, PRIMERGY CX400 M6 server, PRIMERGY CX2550 M6 and PRIMERGY CX2560 M6 dual nodes are available to order starting from August. Pricing depends on region and configuration.

About the new PRIMERGY M6 series

The new M6 generation PRIMERGY family delivers blazingly fast performance with 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors (up to 40 cores per CPU, 105W to 270W TDP, 3 UPI links at 11.2 GT/s, 64 I/O lanes per socket, built-in AI & security features) and high-speed 3200MT/s DIMM memory. It features increased memory capacity with up to 8 channels (up to 256GB DDR4 DIMM support) and enhanced Intel Optane persistent memory 200 series (up to 512GB PMem). This makes it possible to drive demanding workloads with 32 DIMM modules (up to 12 TB in combination with PMem, depending on the server). The M6 generation provides faster I/O with PCI Express 4.0 PCIe 4.0 delivers double the I/O performance over PCIe 3.0 with up to 128 lanes). M6 family systems also include designs with the newly-available Enterprise and Datacenter SSD Form Factor (EDSFF). This provides improved thermal management, power, and scalability. Platform Firmware Resilience protects platform firmware, detects corruptions, and enables backups to be restored to a known-good state.
