A New Dimension: Fujitsu Introduces First Professional Dual 2D and 3D Display

Two superior displays in one housing means savings both on budget and desk space

Munich, October 31, 2011

Fujitsu today introduces the first 2-in-1 display designed for both 2D and 3D usage, making the use of professional-quality 3D displays more practical and affordable. By incorporating both capabilities into a single 23-inch desktop display, users can swap between high-performance 2D applications and professional 3D applications at the flick of a switch, while ultra-light and battery-free polarizing glasses facilitate the RealD 3D-compatible experience.

With its first dual display, Fujitsu is targeting graphics professionals who use demanding graphics applications such as CAD/CAE, simulation software and geo/satellite data processing systems. Other target markets include architectural, medical observation, advertising and point-of-sale consulting, where 3D applications are entering mainstream use.

The new Fujitsu display model P23T-6 FPR 3D provides bright, flicker- and fatigue-free pictures without crosstalk, by incorporating the latest 3D Filmtype Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology. A large 3D cone viewing angle allows small groups to enjoy 3D depth effect while experiencing presentations, even in daylight settings.

Like other Fujitsu display lines, the new 3D model comes with a highly ergonomic 4-in-1 stand and sophisticated housing which won the prestigious reddot design award in 2011. Power consumption is reduced in operation thanks to LED backlighting and features such as an automatic brightness sensor and Eco mode capability, and the display also incorporates Fujitsu’s unique 0-Watt standby mode.

Dieter Heiss, Head of Workplace Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: “The dual output display means savings both on budget – because there’s no need to buy a separate display just for 3D applications – and in terms of desk space. The large viewable screen angle makes the display ideal for use in business, retail and educational environments, where the use of 3D can deliver an engaging educational experience, or provide an impactful method of showcasing products.”

Further special features of the Superior-line display include the DICOM-compatible adjustable gamma, allowing use with greyscale-oriented graphics and clinical review applications, while a wide range of output interfaces maximize compatibility with PCs, workstations and mobile workstations. To get the highest performance professional 3D experience from the new display, Fujitsu recommends workstation hardware with graphics cards that support quad-buffering technology, such as the Fujitsu CELSIUS workstation line.

Fujitsu’s new dual display is available from the end of November, both via Fujitsu SELECT channel partners and directly from Fujitsu via shop.fujitsu.com . Pricing varies according to country.
