– Fujitsu’s Global Delivery Center (GDC) in the Philippines has scooped the Outstanding Community Projects Award from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA). The award was conferred at PEZA’s 25th Anniversary and Investors’ Day, held on December 10, 2020 at the PEZA Auditorium in Pasay City, Metro Manila.

The PEZA Outstanding Community Projects Awards recognizes a PEZA-located company for notable efforts toward undertaking social welfare programs that benefit the Filipino community.

In the Philippines, Fujitsu’s GDC is committed to making the world sustainable by building trust in society through innovation and supporting the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Employees at the Philippines GDC initiated community activities under Fujitsu’s Global Delivery Responsible Business Program (known as GRiP) Community Pillar, which aims to empower, engage, and enable communities.

Arlene Gregorio, Head of Fujitsu GDC in the Philippines commented: “It is an honor for both Fujitsu and our employees to be recognized by PEZA. We are thrilled that all our efforts in giving back to our local community are appreciated, as this helps inspire and motivate our employees to keep this up in the years ahead.”

During 2019, Fujitsu GDC employees in the Philippines dedicated some 1,400 hours to volunteering. An education-focused program reached more than 650 people. “Adopt-a-School” was among the notable initiatives, where Fujitsu volunteers visited an elementary school in Cebu province to provide lunch and donate school supplies, slippers, and provide a TV set for the 232 students. Parents of students who participated in the activity were also instructed in Occupational Health and Safety.

Fujitsu employees also visited Shelters/Homes for the Aged in Manila and Cebu to socialize with senior citizens and donate wellness products, formulated nutrition, hand sanitizers and medical gloves/masks. The volunteers also supported an animal rescue organization in Cebu province by providing support such as dog walking and bathing, grass cutting, and donating medical supplies.
