Thermal Printer - Thermal Head Cleaning Procedure

Adhesion of dust and foreign materials may deteriorate the lifetime of the printer thermal head and platen. When dust and foreign materials adhere, please clean the thermal head according to the following procedures.

  1. Prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage, by wearing a disposable wrist strap during the cleaning process.
  2. Cleaning should be done with the cover open and the platen separate from the thermal head.
Note: Do not touch the thermal head surface with anything hard.
  3. Wipe the heating element part of the thermal head surface lightly with lint-free cotton swab applied with Ethyl-alcohol. After Ethyl-alcohol has dried completely from the thermal head, set the platen back and perform action check.
Note: Do not use any thing that may destroy the heating element, such as sandpaper. Do not add any unnecessary force to the thermal head.
