News facts:

  • Semi-ruggedized Fujitsu STYLISTIC M702 tablet
  • Water- and dustproof model is Fujitsu’s best-equipped ever Android device
  • Ideal for field workers, tough enough for the outdoors, slim enough to carry

Fujitsu today introduces the widely-anticipated STYLISTIC M702 tablet PC at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The semi-ruggedized Android device is designed to be used in places where consumer tablets would become waterlogged or get clogged up with dust, providing a lower cost and more lightweight alternative to a fully-ruggedized notebook.

Mobile electronic devices have become essential productivity tools – but are also fragile and easily damaged. Fujitsu’s new tablet solution is designed to solve this compromise and enable business continuity as companies continue to invest in equipping their workforce with mobile tools. Semi-ruggedization means that Fujitsu’s new Android tablet model is tough enough to cope with the rigors of daily business use both in the office and on the road.

The Fujitsu STYLISTIC M702 unlocks productivity roadblocks, as is designed for professionals who spend a lot of their working day away from their office. Day-long battery life is a feature of the newest addition to the growing Fujitsu STYLISTIC line-up of business class tablets. Weighing just 590g, the STYLISTIC M702 is easy to carry around all day, with no trade-off between mobility and durability.

A semi-ruggedized casing and scratch-resistant glass protect the STYLISTIC M702 against bumps and scratches, while full waterproofing and dustproofing means that for an architect, draftsman or contractor, Fujitsu’s innovative tablet can provide secure access to electronic construction plans even on windy, wet construction sites. For insurance assessors working on the road, the new tablet allows reports and information to be completed on-site, even in the aftermath of a hurricane. For factory or construction workers, plans and orders can be accessed in the field via built-in 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, and even confirmed via integrated NFC functionality, without fear that dust and moisture will destroy the device.

A resilient business tablet designed for the enterprise – today and tomorrow

Unlike consumer devices, the Fujitsu STYLISTIC M702 is designed with enterprise security in mind, a key requirement for any CIO who is mobilizing their workforce. Features such as an integrated fingerprint sensor, full-disk encryption, and remote device tracking and recovery help keep the tablet and its data secure. Fujitsu factory loads the STYLISTIC M702 with office applications and a document scanner, using the high-quality 8.1MP camera. The tablet is also fully equipped for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure use, meaning easy integration into leading VDI solutions for secure, anytime data access.

Dieter Heiss, Head of Workplace Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions
“Consumer devices have helped to start the mobility revolution, but they are too fragile for many working environments. We’re targeting mobile workforces with the new semi-ruggedized STYLISTIC M702, providing a no-compromise tablet that can roll with the punches during the mobile working day and ensure business continuity. Businesses that cut corners by using consumer devices in challenging environments will end up counting the cost of repairs and replacements for waterlogged and smashed tablets that just were not up to the job.”

Pricing and availability

The Fujitsu STYLISTIC M702 is available now online and in retail locations across Central Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. Prices start at EUR 999.

Notes to editors

The Ingress Protection Rating is a standard that specifies the level of protection that the enclosure provides. The Fujitsu STYLISTIC M702 has been tested for both dust (IP5X) and water jets (IPX5/7/8):

  • IPX5 (water jets): Protected against water jets – directly subjected to water at all angles through a 6.3mm nozzle, at a flow rate of 12.5 liters/min, at a pressure of 30kN/m2 for at least three minutes, from a distance of approximately three meters
  • IPX7: Protection against water immersion - immersion for 30 minutes at a depth of one meter
  • IPX8: Designation indicates that the tablet will function normally after being immersed in room-temperature tap water to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes
  • IP5X (Dustproofing): Gives specifications on the level of protection that the enclosure provides against harmful ingress of solid foreign objects and dust
