Fujitsu Cuts Infrastructure Costs for Customers Running SAP® Solutions on Windows Server

Hanover / Munich, March 06, 2012

News facts:

  • Popular adaptive computing solution FlexFrame available on Windows for the first time
  • Enables productivity and optimization boost for entire environments running SAP solutions on Windows Server
  • Underlines high availability for business-critical applications such as SAP ERP, SAP CRM and SAP Product Lifecycle Management
  • Provides perfect cloud-ready infrastructure

Fujitsu today introduces FlexFrame on Windows for SAP® solutions, extending its popular adaptive computing environment to enable customers running SAP solutions on Microsoft Windows-based servers to boost the reliability of those systems while simultaneously cutting operating costs.

Developed by Fujitsu in close cooperation with Microsoft Corp. and integrated with SAP applications, FlexFrame on Windows for SAP solutions running on Fujitsu x86 PRIMERGY servers brings powerful adaptive computing to customers. The introduction of a Windows Server-based version dramatically extends the addressable market for FlexFrame, already deployed by hundreds of companies around the world in Linux-based environments.

Now customers running SAP solutions on Windows Server, based on SQL Server technology, can also take advantage of FlexFrame, which provides a flexible, enterprise-class environment for the entire portfolio of SAP applications– including SAP ERP, SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM), SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) and SAP Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM).

Business benefits

FlexFrame is a complete eco-system, which uses intelligent, dynamic resource allocation to continuously optimize fully-virtualized SAP solution environments, making better use of system resources. This is possible through high availability of entire systems running SAP solutions – including servers, virtual machines, storage and networks.

Customer installations demonstrate that Fujitsu FlexFrame solutions deliver savings of up to 60 percent in the total cost of ownership (TCO) of infrastructure running SAP solutions. Improved IT infrastructure utilization cuts capital expenditure, while operating costs are reduced by requiring fewer physical servers per installation, all of which are administrated automatically.

Business operations that depend on SAP applications are underpinned by FlexFrame’s built-in high availability, avoiding the complexity of managing and maintaining third-party tools for SAP solution-based environments, and making it easier to ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs). FlexFrame on Windows for SAP solutions also provides an ideal foundation for cloud computing environments, since it meets the key cloud requirements of system flexibility, efficiency and reliability.

FlexFrame on Windows for SAP solutions from Fujitsu is scheduled to be available for global order later in 2012 and is planned to ship to the first customers in Germany this autumn. Pricing and support varies according to individual implementation.
