New Generation Fujitsu FlexFrame Enhances Infrastructure for SAP HANA®

Fujitsu Technology Solutions

Munich, November 07, 2012

News facts:

  • FlexFrame Orchestrator extends real-world cost savings for infrastructure operations in support of SAP® solutions, including SAP HANA
  • Introduces FlexFrame appliance for any certified hardware platform
At Fujitsu Forum 2012, Europe’s biggest single-vendor customer event, Fujitsu today announces FlexFrame Orchestrator, a new datacenter management platform to manage unified environments running SAP® solutions. FlexFrame Orchestrator adds support for installations of the SAP HANA® platform to its comprehensive datacenter operations, including resources and services management, high availability and disaster recovery capabilities, across entire landscapes running SAP applications.

Already proven in the field to deliver cost savings of more than 50 percent in managing environments running SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications, FlexFrame Orchestrator customers can expect to reduce cost and complexity for installations of SAP HANA. This can be accomplished through integration with FlexFrame Orchestrator-managed adaptive IT infrastructures, increasing system flexibility and speed, and providing greater system resilience.

Fujitsu FlexFrame Orchestrator enables service providers to build and operate real-time datacenters. It is currently the only adaptive datacenter infrastructure management platform to support all four delivery models – whether customers require a traditional, self-managed, on-premise system; a managed service; an off-premise hosted system; or even a cloud service.

For the first time, Fujitsu is also lifting the restrictions on FlexFrame hardware and software requirements, introducing the availability of FlexFrame as a software appliance. This extends the availability of FlexFrame technology via a certification program, which will enable the FlexFrame appliance to run with certified third-party datacenter technology. Confirmed configurations meeting the required levels of server, storage and network capability will be able to benefit from advantages of the FlexFrame technology.

Fujitsu makes IT environments running SAP HANA software more manageable, more resilient, more highly available and more widely accessible

Since its introduction in mid-2011, SAP HANA has enabled enterprises to rapidly speed decision-making based on better business analytics. Implementing Fujitsu FlexFrame Orchestrator can be achieved without disruption in heterogeneous datacenter environments, and delivers enterprise-class features that enable systems to deliver optimum levels of performance, creating a fully optimized infrastructure designed to flexibly allocate system resources. System commissioning and maintenance is also faster and easier due to FlexFrame’s built-in automated administration.

Creating high availability for all nodes and improving management for entire installations of SAP HANA, Fujitsu FlexFrame also removes complexity, since it is no longer necessary to directly manage complex clusters. Thanks to dynamic system provisioning, FlexFrame also delivers cost efficiencies. FlexFrame is able to dynamically move SAP HANA-based workloads between servers, allowing seamless operational transfer and continuous system uptime in case of required hardware maintenance, while fewer spare nodes are required for failover.

Rupert Lehner, Senior Vice-President, Solutions Business Group at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says: “Thanks to its capabilities of enhancing IT environments while also reducing costs by more than 50 percent in many cases, Fujitsu FlexFrame is already widely recognized as the leading technology for adaptive SAP solution-based infrastructures. Today’s announcement signals a new era for FlexFrame, both in managing whole SAP solution-based environments including those running SAP HANA, and also in opening up the availability of FlexFrame technology to run on any hardware in any datacenter, provided that minimum requirements are met.”
