New Fujitsu Server Boosts Business Continuity for Small Businesses

Cost-effective PRIMERGY MX130 S2 safeguards and shares vital data, supports non-stop collaboration

Munich, October 04, 2011

Fujitsu today announces a new entry-level server providing a boost in business continuity to small or very small ‘micro’ businesses. The second series of the PRIMERGY MX130 server offers comprehensive protection for this kind of tiny firm, often running patchwork IT systems where even a minor IT failure can lead to crippling downtime and loss of access to critical business data.

A cost-effective, expandable and uncomplicated professional first server, the PRIMERGY MX130 S2 provides small businesses with enhanced business continuity. It is a stable, server-quality platform for consolidation and protection of company data, providing a more effective, business-class alternative to file sharing and collaboration than having to rely on data sharing via consumer technology such as USB-based storage and emailing attachments.

Ease of use and flexibility are PRIMERGY MX130 S2 strengths. Even for non-IT specialists, administration is easy via Fujitsu’s powerful ServerView management suite. This provides optimized system settings, permanent status monitoring and extensive control and analysis over potential malfunctions, helping to boost system availability.

Getting a new server up and running is easy and quick thanks to ServerView Installation Manager software. And u nlike rival entry-level server models, customers even can order a Fujitsu PRIMERGY MX130 S2 pre-configured to their own specifications, via Fujitsu SELECT channel partners. Then, the only set-up required on delivery is to connect the cables and power up the system.

Flexibility is underlined by the PRIMERGY MX130 S2’s ability to run a thin client-based network, through support for Microsoft MultiPoint Server (1). It is also ideal for use with Microsoft Small Business Server Essentials 2011, which helps smaller user groups to protect data, organize and access their business information from virtually anywhere.

Says Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice Pr esident, Product Development Group at Fujitsu Technology Solutions: “Many micro businesses are risking their data – the lifeblood of their company – on shaky, patchwork combinations of consumer-based technologies like unsecured USB drives. Without access to their data, most businesses today will simply die. That’s why we’re helping to provide micro firms with business continuity trough introducing a server model designed to give them high levels of security and reliability – of course at a micro price.

Reliability and efficiency

As an entry point to the Fujitsu PRIMERGY x86 server family, the PRIMERGY MX130 S2 shares the range’s reliability and efficiency. Class-leading energy efficiency minimizes running costs, while an innovative design not only shrinks the size but also means for lower levels of operating noise, even making the server suitable for use in a small office.

The PRIMERGY MX130 is also well suited as an entry-level web-hosting system. The first generation model, the PRIMERGY MX130 S1, has been used extensively in this sector. Deployments include intergenia AG’s datacenter in Strasbourg, France, recognized as being one of Europe’s greenest data centers.

According to Thomas Strohe, Cofounder and Board Member at intergenia A G: “The PRIMERGY MX130 S1 from Fujitsu has everything we expect from the latest generation of servers. This highly intelligent and very energy efficient solution delivers maximum performance and is ultra-compact as well .”

Fujitsu’s PRIMERGY MX130 S2 is now available to order. Availability, pricing and configurations may differ by region.
