Fujitsu x10sure Integrated Storage Changes the Rules of High Availability IT for SMBs

SMBs enabled to focus on business, backed by low-cost, dependable, and simple all-in-one x10sure IS

Munich, March 31, 2010

Fujitsu today announces x10sure IS (Integrated Storage), a reliable and low-cost High Availability solution for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 that eliminates the expense and need for additional storage. x10sure IS introduces a second model to Fujitsu’s x10sure line-up, and focuses on the specific needs of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) for affordable, easy-to-manage system protection.

For small businesses, and large organizations with branch offices or point of sales where stand-alone Windows servers are deployed, the stripped-down, IS edition of x10sure provides the competitive advantages of Microsoft-based server virtualization, at even lower price points. By switching to x10sure, SMBs can achieve operational cost savings of up to 50 percent in comparison to buying and implementing the individual components for a clustering solution. What’s more is that x10sure IS makes even better use of IT resources.

Rolf Strotmann, Vice President Enterprise Servers and Software at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: “The beauty of x10sure is its unmatched simplicity, increasing overall quality of service of the IT infrastructure at an affordable price. This allows SMBs to enjoy High Availability for all their servers, instead of being forced to select which servers are mission-critical and which are not. With x10sure IS, Fujitsu is fulfilling its commitment to continue to evolve to satisfy more customer needs, address new markets, and indeed lower the barriers to entry for SMBs to take on virtualization and storage consolidation projects.”

x10sure IS offers a virtualized server platform for business applications, running on a choice of Fujitsu PRIMERGY x86 server hardware. In the case of system failure, x10sure IS automatically restores applications to protect against unplanned downtime. A technical innovation unique to Fujitsu, in the case of a server application failure, x10sure automatically boots the spare server so that all services are restored within minutes. The x10sure model protects existing technology investments, while easily integrating and achieving the added value of new investments.

As virtualization moves into the mainstream, more enterprises are taking advantage of the increased business velocity by transforming their IT into dynamic infrastructures able to adjust to varying workload demands. However, virtualization also increases the cost and complexity of system administration and management. Fujitsu’s x10sure IS addresses both these concerns. The basic system configuration, packaged for easy installation and set-up, is comprised of two PRIMERGY x86 servers with internal storage on reliable hard disks. Networked via fast iSCSI connections, x10sure software provides integrated replication for Windows Server 2008 and Hyper-V virtualization.

Fujitsu has built the first release of x10sure IS on the new PRIMERGY TX150 S7 tower server with dual- and quad-core Intel® Xeon® 3400 single socket processors. This flexible server is an excellent foundation for a cost-saving configuration, and can also be used as a dependable database server. Underlining its versatility, the PRIMERGY TX150 S7 server also has plenty of capacity for memory expansion, making it ideal for virtualized environments.

x10sure is available immediately from Fujitsu across Continental Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India (CEMEA&I).
