Highlights powerful virtualization and cloud offerings and a strong partnership with VMware

Munich/Copenhagen, October 12, 2010

Fujitsu today demonstrates its unrivalled range of powerful virtualization and cloud offerings at VMworld 2010 Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company’s Dynamic Infrastructures portfolio delivers flexible, easy to manage and cost-effective IT products, solutions and services for businesses of all sizes, regardless of if they operate virtualized, physical, or hybrid computing models. Fujitsu is a VMware Global Alliance Partner, VMware OEM Partner, and a Platinum Sponsor of VMworld 2010 Europe.

Fujitsu’s comprehensive portfolio includes the recently launched ‘Make IT Dynamic’ EASY solutions for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The flexible combinations of reliable Fujitsu PRIMERGY x86 rack servers, ETERNUS disk storage systems and infrastructure solutions offer the scalability to grow with the business.

Andre Kiehne, Vice President Services at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: “Cloud computing delivers enormous benefits in terms of flexibility and cost-effectiveness, both vital in today’s challenging business environment. Many organizations, are looking to make virtualization central to their IT infrastructure. The combination of our full range of products, solutions and services, plus our strong partnerships, such as that with VMware, ensures that we provide the right solution for individual needs, and one that can be easily adapted to meet changing business conditions.”

Demonstrating its commitment to innovating market-leading virtualization technologies, Fujitsu’s PRIMERGY servers consistently achieve outstanding results using the VMware VMmark benchmark, which measures the performance of virtualized servers while running under load on physical hardware. PRIMERGY servers are currently leading the 24, 12 and 8 core categories. The combination of Intel Xeon Virtualization Technology and Fujitsu PRIMERGY server, based on latest Intel Xeon Processors, is the optimal hardware solution for any virtualization scenario. Results are evident: a more effective virtualization, utilization and a performance boost of up to 40%*, and savings on costs and especially on energy of up to 30%**.

Fujitsu will be demonstrating products, solutions and services from the following key areas on booth 27. Accompanying the product demonstrations will be breakout sessions on the key topics of ‘Client Virtualization’ and ‘How Organizations Can Turn Cloud Services into Reality?’

VMware-based Solutions for EASY Virtualization and EASY Business Continuity

Launched as part of ‘Make IT Dynamic’, the EASY Virtualization with VMware solution provides a simplified, cost-effective entry into the world of virtualization by combining PRIMERGY servers, centralized ETERNUS DX storage and VMware vSphere software in a ready-to-use infrastructure. On top of that, Fujitsu’s EASY Business Continuity with VMware solutions reduces financial and operational risk by protecting vital business services and data assets in a complete Disaster Recovery solution with automated failover functionality between two sites.

Infrastructure-as-a-Service for Server and Storage

Fujitsu’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service enables customers to get quick and easy on-demand access to individually configured server and storage capacity hosted in the Fujitsu datacenters. Access is provided through a portal with secure internet connection. Server capacity can either be provided as a standard virtual server, virtual and dedicated server with operating system, or Server with middleware and application services. Storage is provided in different defined classes with clear SLAs. Both services are paid per usage on a monthly base.

Complete Management View of Physical and Virtual Resources

Fujitsu’s full cloud computing portfolio includes the ServerView Resource Orchestrator, which automatically enables flexible, cloud-ready IT architectures, Dynamic Infrastructures solutions for Private Clouds and scale out architecture for cloud data centres, based on the latest PRIMERGY x86 server technology.

Complete Virtualized Desktop Infrastructure

Fujitsu’s virtualization range includes the revolutionary Zero Client, based on VMware View. Zero Clients provide a complete virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) in a single system, enabling SMBs to deliver a full desktop experience at a fraction of the normal cost.
