Fujitsu Promises Guaranteed Savings across SAP® Landscapes

-Complete range of offerings enable enterprises to future-proof and optimize SAP® systems

Munich, October 28, 2010

Fujitsu today introduces guaranteed savings for customers running SA P® solutions through the availability of a complete set of solutions enabling enterprises to future-proof and optimize their SAP ® environments. Together with a new version of its flagship FlexFrame for SAP ® solution, Fujitsu is extending the roll-out of its Managed SAP IT Infrastructure offering and introducing services that enable enterprises to optimize SAP ® installations.

Drawing on Fujitsu’s 38-year heritage of working closely with SAP, today more than 7000 enterprises are already using Fujitsu-SAP environments. Fujitsu’s new future-proofing initiative provides customers with a cast iron guarantee of both savings in operational expenditure, plus the highest levels of system uptime. By optimizing their SAP operating environments enterprises can gain productivity increases.

A brand new version of Fujitsu’s renowned FlexFrame for SAP, version 5, dynamizes complete SAP environments, ensuring that resources are continually allocated to meet changing demands. Fujitsu’s FlexFrame for SAP is an IT infrastructure optimized for use with adaptive computing. Offering proven scalability of nearly unlimited users, Fujitsu’s Version 5 of FlexFrame for SAP adds even tighter integration and improved application-level awareness. This enables a more granular level of control over the deployment of complete SAP systems, including physical and virtual servers, operating systems, networks, storage and even individual applications. FlexFrame for SAP is pre-installed so that it can be commissioned immediately on arrival at a customer’s datacenter.

By introducing support for the SAP NetWeaver ® Adaptive Computing Controller, Fujitsu’s FlexFrame for SAP now extends to offer full virtualization of SAP software components. In contrast to standard virtualization approaches, application-layer virtualization means that non-responding or overloaded SAP applications can be moved or restarted on a separate physical or virtual server, without the need to reboot. This removes bottlenecks in system performance and increases guaranteed levels of uptime and availability.

As more and more enterprises explore the benefits of Managed Services, Fujitsu has started the roll-out in selected European markets of a worry-free Managed SAP IT Infrastructure service, scaling from remote services and operations – where Fujitsu takes over the management of defined SAP processes –through to hosting of entire SAP environments. Customers who opt for Fujitsu’s Managed SAP IT Infrastructure service can enjoy the promise of peace of mind that their SAP system is continually optimized to deliver best performance, backed by Service Level Agreement-based levels of system uptime, performance and responsibilities.

In a new initiative focused on underlining the gains in performance and efficiency, Fujitsu’s SAP SystemInspection Service offers new customers guaranteed cost savings from optimizing their SAP environments. Enterprises running SAP solutions are invited to take part in an assessment of their current SAP landscape conducted by Fujitsu before being provided with an overview of the savings they can expect by switching to a Fujitsu-powered SAP environment.

Rolf Strotmann, Vice President Enterprise Servers and Software at Fujitsu Technology Solutions,, says: “As businesses increasingly depend on their IT infrastructures to underpin all elements of their daily operations, so a non-optimized or overloaded SAP environment has an increasing impact on business performance. Fujitsu and SAP have a long heritage of working together to deliver innovative solutions in terms of SAP system performance and uptime – and we’re taking that to the next level with our new version of FlexFrame for SAP and the rollout of our Managed SAP service, in addition to savings from optimizing SAP installations.”

At SAP ® TechEd 2010 being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, from October 18-22, SAP announced that it is cooperating with Fujitsu to co-innovate on SAP’s latest in-memory innovation SAP® High-Performance Analytic Appliance (SAP HANA) for their joint customers. SAP HANA is a new appliance that will enable business users to instantaneously access, explore, model and analyze data from both, transactional and analytical applications, in real-time in a single environment, without impacting the data warehouse or other systems.
