Fujitsu today announces the global availability of a comprehensive IT management solution, Microsoft Corp’s System Center Essentials 2010 (SCE 2010), pre-integrated with Fujitsu’s PRIMERGY ServerView system management software. Fujitsu offers the OEM version of SCE 2010 globally which, incorporating ServerView, delivers a unified solution with a single console for the integrated management of a broad range of tasks across both physical and virtual servers, clients, hardware, software, and IT services. SCE2010 is designed and priced to give mid-sized businesses easy access to the business-boosting benefits of server virtualization, and enables them to start at a comfortable pace by putting more routine operations into the cloud, and keeping business critical operations completely within their physical infrastructure. This product complements Fujitsu’s own-developed system management software offering, ServerView Suite, which contains many components designed to meet the needs of the upper mid-market and large enterprises.Ideal for the partner market, SCE 2010 is easy to deploy and to remotely fulfill, maintain, and support up to 50 server workloads, plus a maximum of 500 clients. The addition of PRIMERGY ServerView significantly improves system management capabilities and provides a solution that both accelerates problem resolution and enables automation of system updates and data collection, enabling customers and value added resellers alike to proactively manage IT environments and keep systems up-to-date.In bringing the solution to market, Microsoft and Fujitsu teamed up to integrate Fujitsu’s deep server-management expertise and Microsoft’s broader IT portfolio-management capabilities. The result is an affordable, easy-to-manage entry point to server virtualization that offers SMBs significantly-reduced fixed and operational costs, as well as increased system flexibility. SCE 2010 is intended to help SMBs to proactively manage their IT environment, while simplifying complex IT tasks to maximize their investments in IT hardware, software, and services. Customers using Fujitsu’s proven and reliable PRIMERGY x86 servers and ETERNUS DX disk storage systems as a flexible, expandable platform for introducing a new virtualized IT infrastructure are able to exploit virtualization technology such as Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2due to the integration with ServerView Suite. "Although virtualization is becoming increasingly accessible to mid-size businesses, it is still not always as simple or affordable to implement," according to Jens-Peter Seick, senior Vice-President, x86 Server Product Unit at Fujitsu Technology Solutions. "This globally-available OEM edition of Microsoft System Center Essentials 2010 is designed to address that, giving SMBs confidence that they have a functional, scalable and stable solution whether in the cloud or not, at the right price, and with a clear and simple means of ongoing management." "Microsoft is committed to providing products and solutions that help mid-size companies succeed and reduce costs," said Garth Fort, General Manager, System Center and Virtualization, Microsoft Corp. "Many SMBs are aware of the efficiency and flexibility of virtualization, but have been reluctant to make the switch due to concerns about cost and complexity. With the SCE 2010 and Hyper-V, Fujitsu and Microsoft are helping SMBs take the first step towards cost-effective, easy to deploy virtualization." Microsoft SCE 2010, including PRIMERGY ServerView, is available immediately from participating distributors and resellers.
