Fujitsu Introduces New ESPRIMO Models Based on Latest AMD Processors

New ESPRIMO models combine six-core AMD processors with Fujitsu’s reliable system features

Munich, June 11, 2010

Fujitsu today announces two new ESPRIMO models based on the latest AMD PC platform, ready to cope with the most demanding desktop tasks. Combining AMD’s new six-core processors with Fujitsu’s technology, the new ESPRIMO models provide business users with maximum performance and reliability, even when running the most complex applications. An integral part of Fujitsu’s Dynamic Infrastructures portfolio, the AMD-powered ESPRIMO models ensure the necessary power and performance for the challenges of the future.

Enterprise users who want a PC providing the highest performance at a low cost, now have two new choices from the Fujitsu portfolio: the ESPRIMO E5645, a small form-factor PC, or the ESPRIMO P5645, a microtower.

PC users today need to be able to run multiple programs simultaneously without experiencing sluggish performance. For example, if a user wants to run an automatic virus scan while burning a DVD, the new ESPRIMO models provide the best price/performance ratio by utilizing the power of the new six-core AMD Phenom™ processors with Turbo Core technology. The six-core systems deliver exponentially greater performance to cope with even the most intensive use, so that individual cores can be assigned exclusively to compute-intensive tasks. For the user running multiple applications, as in this example, one core can concentrate on running the virus scan while another is handling the requirements for burning a DVD. AMD’s Turbo Core automatically adjusts to use six cores for cutting-edge applicationsand increases the frequency if applications only load three cores.

Fujitsu offers the ESPRIMO systems with a wide spectrum of processors, starting at single core AMD Sempron and dual-core AMD Athlon II X2 processors for less demanding office applications, followed by quad-core AMD Phenom II X4 for more demanding applications and the six-core AMD Phenom II X6 processors for the highest demands.

For users who need multiple screens, both ESPRIMO models have two PCI express slots to expand the system with two fast graphic cards so that four monitors can connect to the system at once. The powerful AMD onboard graphics chip, Radeon HD4200 with Direct X10.1 support, allows users to connect two displays to the two digital ports, providing the best picture quality and viewing experience, far superior to that of an analog VGA port. Users also benefit from the fastest way to connect external devices to a PC, as both models are prepared for fast I/O cards such as USB 3.0 cards.

The new line-up of ESPRIMO PCs reflects Fujitsu’s core values, providing innovation and performance as well as environmental responsibility. Fujitsu’s Green PC technology goes beyond just the legal requirements. Both environmentally-conscious ESPRIMO models feature halogen-free mainboards. The same powerful processing capabilities that make the ESPRIMO E5645 and ESPRIMO P5645 so fast also make these systems highly energy-efficient, with power supplies that achieve up to 87% efficiency.

Users can count on ESPRIMO for peace-of-mind as well as a peaceful working environment. Both ESPRIMO PCs are extremely quiet, and a lifecycle of up to 18 months means less maintenance and management, eliminating the need for frequent system updates. The cabinet is designed for easy-access, making updates fast and easy.

In addition, the family concept with same BIOS for both systems reduces evaluation time and costs for customers, as it reduces customers’ evaluation effort right from the beginning.

Rajat Kakar, Vice President Clients Group at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: “The New ESPRIMO PCs will delight high-performance users, such as those who need to run multiple intensive programs simultaneously without bogging down the system. Fujitsu’s proven technology combined with the latest AMD chipset, processor and manageability features, provide the best performance for the price, and continues our company’s long history of providing innovative, reliable and environmentally responsible products, incorporating the latest cutting-edge technology into every product.”

The new ESPRIMO E/P models are available immediately. Pricing varies depending on the country.
