Fujitsu Eases File-Sharing with Secure and Reliable openFT V11.0

New managed file transfer system smoothes reliable transfer of business-critical data

Munich, October 29, 2010

Fujitsu today announces an enhanced solution that delivers a secure, reliable way of transferring sensitive data between offices without any risk of leakage or loss. Version 11 of openFT simplifies secure transfer of large data files within organizations as well as externally between partners and customers. openFT supports all major platforms and protocols, working across a wide variety of IT environments.

Fujitsu’s openFT V11.0 is designed to simplify and accelerate secure data transfer. Companies will find that it is easy to install and administer, keeping the total cost of ownership low. IT administrators can manage and monitor all openFT instances in a network centrally, through a single point of administration. Administrators can measure an openFT instance through dedicated criteria such as data throughput and the monitoring process summarizes events or durations of single actions. Efficient monitoring allows administrators to respond quickly to critical situations, saving time and costs.

Requirements placed on an administered company-wide file transfer solution (Managed File Transfer) are becoming ever more important. openFT provides many advantages compared to standard File Transfer Protocol (FTP), including security features, detailed partner management, central network administration, advanced monitoring, and file conversion. openFT also supports additional protocols and can transport data between heterogeneous systems.

Dr. Rolf Strotmann, Vice President Enterprise Servers and Software at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says, “Fujitsu has a long history innovating file sharing systems, with the initial version released in 1984. Today, Fujitsu has proven flexibility and reliability even under extreme loads, in over 100,000 server installations. Anytime it’s necessary to transport large amounts of data securely between servers, openFT provides performance, enhanced by pre-processing and post-processing, backing up data or executing programs as necessary.”

Businesses can be confident that sensitive information will remain private and secure with a new Secure Sockets Layer and Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) interface that connects securely to FTP partners. openFT can be integrated into a server management system because it uses standards in terms of reporting errors. A new dedicated trap server in V11.0 allows administrators to send event messages and centrally manage all generated traps, which identify and resolve potential problems quickly.

openFT is available for all major platforms from notebooks to mainframes. Fujitsu’s openFT V11.0 is on Fujitsu’s price list now and is already available worldwide on Fujitsu’s openFT web shop and through resellers. Pricing for Fujitsu’s openFT V11.0 depends on specific server configurations, and offers CPU-based licensing.
