Even More Fujitsu PRIMERGY Servers Achieve Stringent ENERGY STAR Certification

Businesses of all sizes benefit from a wide choice of cost-effective and energy-efficient x86 servers

Munich/Tokyo, October 04, 2010

Fujitsu today announced that ENERGY STAR has certified Fujitsu’s PRIMERGY Tower and Rack servers, both for mono and dual processor systems, giving customers greater choice and flexibility when selecting energy-efficient server systems. Businesses of all sizes recognize the ENERGY STAR label means they will save energy and reduce costs, while protecting the environment. The recent certifications further extend Fujitsu’s global range of energy-efficient server choices to cover most business application. By assuring that PRIMERGY servers meet ENERGY STAR certifications, Fujitsu helps customers make environmentally conscious choices, continuing the company’s green IT leadership.

From SMBs to major corporations, businesses are under financial and consumer pressure to make better use of their resources. With the ENERGY STAR certification, customers know they are getting a configuration that has been tested thoroughly to reduce power consumption costs, prevent greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce the carbon footprint. Fujitsu’s broad range of tower and rack systems meet a vast range of scenarios, from the entry-level tower systems (such as the PRIMERGY TX100 S2) up to Enterprise-grade dual processors (such as the PRIMERGY RX300 S6 rack server.)

Companies choosing Fujitsu’s ENERGY STAR 1.0 certified rack & tower servers benefit from more energy-efficient Power Supply Units (PSUs), integrated Power Consumption Management, enhanced component selection and Fujitsu’s Cool-Safe™ design for airflow. According to ENERGY STAR guidelines, customers save on average 30 percent more with ENERGY STAR 1.0 Servers than with standard servers¹.

Partners also benefit from the ENERGY STAR 1.0 Family Certification, as they gain increased flexibility in offering their customers a larger variety of certified configurations, guaranteeing custom-built energy-efficient systems to best meet end-customer needs.

Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice President Datacenter Systems Product Division at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says: “By achieving this certification, Fujitsu helps customers reduce their carbon footprint as well as reducing their power consumption and associated operational costs. Fujitsu has been a pioneer of Green IT for over 20 years, and the ENERGY STAR family certification underscores Fujitsu’s continued commitment to our overall green approach.”

Set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ENERGY STAR standards confirm that products meet stringent criteria and help customers easily identify energy-efficient systems. The EPA uses Energy Star 1.0 rating for Enterprise Servers while Energy Star 5.0 is for Small Scale Servers.

The ENERGY STAR Server certification allows customers to choose between a number of different systems, including:

·       PRIMERGY TX150 S7, TX200 S6, TX300 S6 + PRIMERGY RX100 S6, RX200 S6, RX300 S6 (Energy Star Server 1.0 Family certification)

·       PRIMERGY TX100 S2 + PRIMERGY TX120 S2 (Energy Star 5.0 certification)

Many of these PRIMERGY x86 servers are available globally, however availability of the Energy Star Server 1.0 Family certification models varies by region.
