Fujitsu’s Digital Business Platform MetaArc provides customers with a comprehensive set of tools that allow them to take advantage of key digital capabilities such as Big Data, Enterprise Mobility and the Internet of Things (IoT). MetaArc is designed to enable customers to digitalise with confidence, delivering hybrid IT landscapes that bring together the hugely valuable data contained within traditional operational systems of record (Robust IT) and cloud-based systems of engagement (Fast IT). By ensuring that Robust IT systems and Fast IT applications can interface securely, organisations enjoy the best of both worlds, without compromising either security or usability.
A critical component of Fujitsu’s Digital Business Platform MetaArc is the Cloud Service K5. Fujitsu plans to make a further investment to add data residency, with 2017 deployment of the K5 Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) in a local Fujitsu data centre. This will create a high performance, enterprise-grade, fully resilient and secure platform service to meet the needs of customers in Australia and New Zealand who wish to run line-of-business applications in the cloud while also developing and deploying native cloud applications.
Since it is based on the open source OpenStack software, Fujitsu Cloud Service K5 provides unreachable cost savings for cloud deployments, and also includes the open source PaaS application Cloud Foundry, which is already favored by customers in many vertical sectors. The integration of Apigee API management ensures that customers can fully exploit the potential of data within their Robust IT systems by providing the secure integration and connection of digital systems. Furthermore, Fujitsu’s recent acquisition of UShareSoft enables fully automated blueprint and workload management.
K5’s ability to offer fast and effective integration in hybrid IT environments helps customers to accelerate software release cycles by 30 percent, meaning that new services can be more rapidly tested and brought to market. Rapid deployment is further accelerated as K5 provides 100 percent infrastructure and application compatibility across all deployment modes, while MetaArc enables integration and collaboration with other open cloud platforms. This also helps achieve a lower Total Cost of Ownership and ensures greater enterprise agility.
Mike Foster, Chief Executive Officer, Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand said: "Using the cloud is no longer a competitive advantage in its own right. Australian organisations need to look beyond their existing infrastructure and adopt more agile IT systems if they wish to keep ahead of the game. We are seeing a disruptive, start-up mentality emerging throughout the business world. Organisations looking to maintain their relevance will increasingly face a need for rapid system development and overhaul. Our Digital Business Platform MetaArc engages a complete ecosystem of partners to allow customers to digitalise their business with confidence and take advantage of key digital capabilities in order to stay ahead of the competition – both local and global."
Leading by example, Fujitsu has started to transform its own internal IT estate, merging legacy services with new systems for instant return on investment. The business is migrating 640 business systems and 13,000-plus servers to K5. At the same time, Fujitsu is giving back, through software know-how contributions to OpenStack that are centred on enterprise-grade enhancements.Online resources
