Fujitsu Redefines Departmental Scanning Capabilities with the fi-4530C

Sydney, May 08, 2003

Fujitsu Australia today introduced the newest member of its award-winning scanner product family - the fi-4530C. Unveiled at CeBIT Australia 2003, the fi-4530C duplex colour scanner brings decentralised, high quality image capture to the desktop at a highly competitive price.

Fujitsu has targeted the cost-conscious and performance-demanding departmental market segment with the fi-4530C. It boasts the smallest A3 footprint on the market today occupying only 30.2cms x 40.6cms x 22.9cms (H x W x D) of desktop space -- comparable in size to an A4 inkjet printer. The fi-4530C, available in Australia in July 2003, is the first departmental level scanner built specifically for quiet operation equipped with ultrasonic double-feed detection. The ultrasonic double-feed detection helps to prevent lost images and enables larger batches of mixed document types to be scanned quickly, reliably, and automatically. Additionally, the fi-4530C is equipped with Adobe® Acrobat® 5.0 software to convert any document to an Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) file.

"Acrobat 5.0 and Adobe PDF enable corporations to streamline business processes both internally and across an extended enterprise," said Sarah Rosenbaum, director of Acrobat product marketing, Adobe. "By bundling these technologies in the fi-4530C, Fujitsu is allowing departmental scanning users to transcend the barriers between paper and digital workflows while maintaining the look and feel of their original documents."

The fi-4530C has true 600 dpi output without interpolation, offering both print-on-demand image quality, and paper handling that did not previously exist at the departmental level. The fi-4530C has a 100-page automatic document feeder (ADF) that handles document sizes ranging from 5.3cm x 7.4cm to 27.9cm x 43.2cm. It also possesses duplex and colour capabilities at speeds up to 47 pages-per-minute (ppm)/47 images-per-minute (ipm) in landscape mode.

Furthermore, the new scanner has a dual interface of SCSI-II and Hi-Speed USB. The Hi-Speed USB interface allows tremendous transfer rates, and easy connectivity for plug-and-play solutions. Other inbox applications include industry standard TWAIN/ISIS drivers.

"The fi-4530C is the ideal imaging solution for small businesses and departments in organisations such as insurance companies, government agencies, medical establishments, financial institutions and logistics," said Andrew McLennan, Fujitsu's Business Development Manager, imaging products. "It delivers an easy-to-use, high performance, cost-effective document imaging solution."

Pricing and availability

Fujitsu's fi-4530C will be available in Australia in July this year. RRP will be approximately A$12,000 incl GST.
