Sydney, May 03, 2001

As principal launch partner for SharePoint Portal Server, Fujitsu Australia has announced the availability of four portal and document management services.

Through SharePoint Portal Server, Fujitsu will provide consultancy services designed to integrate all the different information repositories that a customer may have such as legacy databases, file servers, Microsoft Web Store and Exchange folders. This will enable customers to improve efficiency by sharing knowledge more effectively within the organisation.

"Fujitsu is ready today to deliver comprehensive solutions to drive additional business value by integrating knowledge from existing information systems," said Alistair Cloke, SharePoint Portal Server Product Marketing Manager, Microsoft Australia.

"We're excited to see Fujitsu getting behind Office XP, SharePoint Team Services and the development opportunities of Office XP in relation to Smart Tags and XML."

Fujitsu will offer four key services:

  • Consultancy including advice on categorising different types of information into common groups for more effective search and retrieval of documents
  • Design, build and implementation of SharePoint Portal Server-based document management systems and portals
  • Implementation of customised portals/digital dashboards, providing individuals within organisations a personalised view of information stored on a SharePoint Portal Server as well as other document and structured data stores such as SQL servers; and
  • Integration with the customer's existing content and document management systems.

"Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server is extending the value of Office beyond the desktop," said Owen Thomas, Fujitsu's Microsoft Solution Group manager.

"The combination of Office XP and Fujitsu consulting services makes it a compelling upgrade that delivers real business value."
