Fujitsu to deliver cloud services to the Tiera Cloud service platform

Helsinki, 12 May, 2016 Kuntien Tiera Oy put a wide range of cloud services out to tender. The new Tiera Cloud service will be immediately available for all Tiera’s owner-customers, more than 200 municipalities, approximately 50 associations of municipalities, and municipal-owned limited liability companies. The cloud service will mark the continuation of the longstanding cooperation between Tiera and Fujitsu in the local government sector.

The cloud capacity delivered from Fujitsu and Tiera’s national data centers, and the professional services and legacy modernization services will offer local players a means to fast, easy and secure digital leap. Specific installs, updates, maintenance or investments will not be necessary. The services will flexibly scale both up and down, and the customer only pays for actual use.

In accordance with the IaaS model, with the Tiera Cloud service, Fujitsu and Tiera will offer server, storage and data center capacity, as well as service platform and software availability services strongly linked with data center services. Moreover, the service allows the utilization of public cloud services, such as Azure, Amazon or Google, alongside the customer’s own data center services, via one shared management view.

The service package also includes capacity migration and integration, the related infrastructure and application specialist services, as well as flexibly scalable virtual desktop capacity.

”Accessing the cloud is now affordable and easy, without any investments or the agony of license management. The digital Tiera Cloud service platform allows the migration of all local government applications and the development of new, innovative products and services for citizens. The professional services and legacy modernization make it possible to extend the lifecycle of ICT solutions. In the cloud service model, the fee is based on actual use. The daily or monthly services will adapt to the transformation of social and healthcare services, for example. Digitizing has never been this flexible,” says Director Marko Mäkelä of Fujitsu.

”Tiera aims at developing an ICT service offering that meets the existing and future needs of the owner-customers.  The cloud services are one of the elemental solutions in the flexible transformation of the social and healthcare services, however, ease of transition can only be secured with a properly pre-planned and executed transition project. Together with Fujitsu we have the know-how to execute sufficiently fast transitions for the municipal entities to make sure the aspired benefits of the subsequent transformation will be fully capitalized on,“ Business Director Sakari Luotonen from Tiera Infrastructure Services sums up.
