Fujitsu Nordic joins Microsoft’s Cloud OS Network to enable Nordic clients’ flexible use of public and private clouds

Fujitsu Nordic joins Microsoft Corp.’s Cloud OS Network to provide clients with cost-efficient hybrid cloud solutions based on Microsoft technology. Fujitsu is an early member of the Cloud OS Network in the Nordic countries.

Helsinki, 12 December, 2013 Fujitsu will now provide a line-up of products and platform services based on the Microsoft Cloud Platform, which includes Windows Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V, System Center 2012 R2 and Windows Azure Pack . Fujitsu’s participation in the Cloud OS Network allows consistency of infrastructure across customer datacentres, Windows Azure public cloud and service provider clouds.  The client can choose the cloud type freely. Fujitsu is also reinforcing it hybrid cloud initiatives that enable development of flexible combinations of public and private clouds.

“We see this hybrid cloud solution, based on Microsoft technology, as a natural continuation and extension of our current service offering. It gives our clients maximum flexibility to choose a cloud solution that best meets their cloud needs,” says Jussi Tolvanen, Director, Managed Services of Fujitsu Nordic.

For the client this also means that the services can be transferred from one location to another without restrictions. If operation costs in a customer’s own datacentre become too high, the services can be taken over by Fujitsu, where capacity can be added according to needs. This enables the client to quickly and flexibly respond to changes in business environment while continuing to grow.

Thanks to its long experience with service provision and track record of innovation, solid expertise in Microsoft software, as well as extensive expertise in hardware, Fujitsu can help clients benefit from the cloud more quickly and use it efficiently.

For example, Fujitsu has the highest level of Microsoft certification in communication technologies and has manifested this knowhow by planning and implementing a Microsoft Lync interoperable SIP-Trunk service for a client, connecting digital voice services to a landline phone network. Thanks to this service, Lync is the only phone users need, as it can be used to call to any line anywhere. In addition to improved flexibility, the service helps decrease telephony costs.

A Fujitsu Nordic solution built on the Microsoft Cloud Platform helps customers seamlessly use on-premises and cloud-based applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Lync, Microsoft SharePoint, and Dynamics CRM in a hybrid environment. This hybrid solution assures higher reliability of the applications and business continuity.

“A unified service architecture and production methods defined by Fujitsu and Microsoft gives customers consistent service levels in all of Fujitsu’s Nordic data centres,” says Tolvanen.

“The Cloud OS Network enables a local service provider to deliver hybrid cloud solutions built on the Microsoft Cloud Platform,” says Takeshi Numoto, corporate vice president, Server & Tools Marketing, Microsoft Corp. “Because Fujitsu Nordic solutions are based on Windows Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V, System Center 2012 R2 and Windows Azure Pack, Fujitsu Nordic customers can choose the appropriate cloud solution while ensuring consistency across cloud environments.”

The new collaboration is built on a long-standing relationship between Fujitsu and Microsoft. The two companies have worked together since the 1980s, formed a strategic alliance for end-to-end business in 2002 and added cloud computing in 2010.
